Cutest puppy ever. 100% filled with mischief. |
Or, the day after we brought her home from the shelter and she knocked an entire blender full of purple smoothie all over our beige carpet. (Too bad I didn't capture a picture of that. I was too busy grabbing the OxiClean!)
And there was all the chewing when she was a teething pup! She chewed our laundry, our speaker wires, even baby Jesus!
Note teeth marks on Baby Jesus' head |
The folks at PetPlan Pet Insurance asked if I had any advice that might help others dealing with new-puppy mischief, since they were preparing a guide for new puppy parents. Well, I told them the story about Abby the Shark and how we were saved by a frozen rag, and they included it!
If you know anyone with a new puppy, tell them to be sure to check out What To Expect When You're Expecting...a Puppy! It's worth checking out just for the cute puppy pics! (Abby's story is in Chapter three, you can go straight to it here.)
Note: I was not compensated for my story included in the What To Expect When You're Expecting...a Puppy! guide, nor was I asked to post about it. I just wanted to share it with you since it's helpful, free info! And puppies can be a pain! (Quite literally, when they're teething.)
Do you remember back to the painful puppy teething stage for your pup? Do kitties go through that too?
Thanks to Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog, and My Brown Newfies for hosting Monday Mischief!
I love the frozen rag idea, we were told to freeze treats inside ice as a good way to keep bored dogs out of mischief for a way, guess that depends on how hot your summer is! That guide seems a good idea!

Mom wishes she had many more photos of my earlier years. She took a lot of pics, but with no blog, she didn't get a lot of the moments we now wish we had. Bailie is lucky as Mom has been getting everything in photos of her life.
ReplyDeleteAbby was such a cutie! Our biggest puppy mischief maker was Rudy. Such a chewer and destroyed so many things :-( Rosie's only real mischief is the digging. One of these days she'll make it to China and I hope, for her sake, they have lots of voles there. Jeffie? My very, very good boy. Always.
ReplyDeleteOMD purple on beige, that would have sent peeps into a panic. Good tip though with the frozen rag. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Oh those chewing puppies! We had a Golden who also chewed on baby Jesus. That year he ate glass ornaments, chewed baby Jesus and ate some of the manger animals. He was about 5 at the time...lol.
ReplyDeletePuppies are a handful. Torrey was a chew monster as a pup. Thankfully, she only chewed her toys.
ReplyDeleteOUr mom said when I was a puppy they bought a boat load of Bitter Apple Spray!

My lab puppy chewed everything in the house, nothing was safe. Cole (Porter)Poodle didn't chew much. He was very good at not chewing until... he turned 12 and then ate my dance shoes, my watercolor painting, my quilt squares and a roll of toilet paper. grrr. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteLong ago I had a puppy who specialized in chewing electric cords. I have no idea what kept him alive through it all...some sort of puppy guardian angel no doubt.
ReplyDeleteNever thought of a frozen rag. Had one that would chew anything, another that would only go in the garbage and steal food and one that wouldn't chew a thing. The cat just chews toilet paper lol
ReplyDeleteI love puppies, sharp teeth and all!
ReplyDeleteGreta was by far our most challenging puppy - knock on wood!

Abby was a danged cute puppy! Would have been interesting for her and Reg to meet and see who could out-mischief the other.
ReplyDeleteNever had a puppy. Don't know if I could handle it!
ReplyDeleteA puppy is possibly the most frustrating and tiring job that requires tons of patience and effort, yet is equally so fun, cute and rewarding.
ReplyDeleteSince it hasn't been that long with Luke, I definitely remember, and we still have some furniture that has all of his teeth marks in it! We gave him lots of kongs filled with kibble to keep him busy and that did help some. He also loved to chew on ice cubes which helped.

Oh I remember Honey's teething so well. I was in tears all throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteWe relied on your tip for the frozen wash rag. But mostly we just had to be patient until she grew up.
The stealing-fruit photo cracked me up!! Even though Riley is considered a senior dog and is usually pretty lazy, he can still get up to quite a bit of mischief once in a while! :) I love the frozen rag idea, will definitely use it if we ever adopt a puppy.
ReplyDeleteOh Noooooo - not the babyJesus! She sounds like she was a blast of entertainment around the house. I love puppies
ReplyDeleteSometimes I get puppy fever...then I remember how much work they are.
