Different Dimension Heavy Metals Collection for Fall 2014

*These products are Cruelty Free

Happy Sunday! Today I have a new collection from Different Dimension to show you for Fall 2014 - The Heavy Metals Collection.

Different Dimension
Heavy Metals Collection
Fall 2014

There are 6 holographic "metal" shades and 2 clear-based glitter toppers in the collection. Not too long ago, I said metals were "out" and to be honest, I was thankful. Never did I envision linear holo metals. When something quits working, what do you do? Discard it? NO, you find a creative person who can re-invent them. And reinvent them she did!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Metals: Day 5 - Metallic Toothpick Marble

Nothing to Disclose

The Digit-al Dozen
Does METALS

Good Morning, it's FRIDAY! That's good and bad. good because, well...it's Friday, and bad because this is the last day of Digit-al Dozen week.

Today I have one of my stand-by techniques - the toothpick marble.

I used Pure Ice Magic for the middle and Silver Mercedes on one side with Borghese Lira on the other. Then while they were still wet, I just used a toothpick to drag the colors back and forth across the nail starting at the cuticle and ending at the tip. Of course you have to do them one nail at a time so they don't dry. This is one of the quickest and easiest nail art techniques I know how to do.

Since this is the last day, I thought I'd show you a couple of Metals Week manis that didn't make the cut.

A scroll-y one...

And a splotchy one...

Have a great weekend!!!

Indie Polish Atomic Yam - Swatches and Review

*This product is Cruelty Free

Indie Polish
Atomic Yam

This is a new-to-me brand so let's get to know Tanya, creator at Indie Polish, a bit...here's what she had to say:

My polish is 3 free and vegan. I test all new glitters and pigments for 2-3 months. My polishes are made in small batches, and we cater to all types of polishes, from holos to glitter bombs and rich cremes. I am inspired by things that oddly go together and work phenomenally well. I have a 6 year old special needs son who has also named, and created color mixes out of glitters for polish as well. The mixes of textures, colors and depth help create polishes that I believe are quite unique. We are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. However we ship worldwide. My polish is cruelty free. Extensively tested on friends, family, myself and often bloggers before it's released, I am confidant in my polish and my company as a whole!

Chanel Azure 657 - Swatches and Review

Personal Collection
*Cruelty Free status in Question

Good afternoon! Right now I have one of the newer Chanel releases to show you - 657 Azure (not to be confused with 465 Azur).

Chanel 657 Azure

Azure 657 is part of their L'été Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Collection and is described by Chanel as a “metallic blue green” and that's a pretty good description. It's a DUOCHROME! It shifts from a paler, green-leaning teal to a deep but bright blue. Application and formula were good on this one. It's self-leveling and actually almost completely streak-free. I used two easy coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos.

Dior Windsor 807

Personal Collection
*This may or may not be Cruelty Free

Dior Windsor #807 is part of a Harrod's Exclusive Duo. Well for now.

Sometimes the Harrod's Exclusives are released elsewhere later. I didn't want to take that chance though and picked up Windsor.

As you can tell by the number, it's a re-release of Dior NY 57th #807. Just the name has changed. But I didn't have Bond Street, so I had to get it.

Windsor is a creamy metallic silver-grey that, like most Diors, goes on like butter.

Thrifty Thursday! Starring Hard Candy Crush on Tin...with Dog

Happy Thursday! Tonight I have another Hard Candy polish for Thrifty Thursday - Crush on Tin.

Crush on Tin is part of their Crushed Chrome Collection and it's a bit hard to describe. It's sort of a charcoal/golden/green/metallic/glass fleck/foil. LOL - how's that for a description? It reminds me of something but I haven't quite put my finger on it yet. If you guys know, please let me know in the comments!

The brush is medium wide and flat, making it apply perfectly. The bottle is taller and skinnier and I was afraid it 1) would be easy to tip over and 2) would have a wand that was so long it would have too much on it to "wipe off," but I had no issues with either one. The formula is great and I had zero issues. Two easy coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos. It was perfectly smooth to the touch. Wear on it was good - I had minimal tip wear and no chips. (I didn't use a base coat.)

Removal was easy, but sort of like a foil polish only not quite as difficult.

What do you think of this one? I think it's probably my favorites of all the new Hard Candy polishes I've tried so far.

a-England Perceval - Swatches and Review

If you are a metallic red-lover, THIS post is for you! I'm finally showing off a-England Perceval!

Perceval is a super-shiny metallic red shimmer and part of a-England's Mythicals Collection. The formula was smooth and creamy and it's a ONE-COATER! No issues to report at all. I did use two coats, just out of habit, and no top coat for the photos.

What do you think? If you love metallic reds, I really can't imagine there being a more perfect one out there than Perceval. Shine, depth of color, shimmer, one-coat perfect formula...it's a stunner! Metallics aren't really my cup of tea though unfortunately...on myself.

I got this one from Overall Beauty's site. They carry this as well as other a-England shades and lots of other harder-to-find-in-the-US brands. You can check out their site here and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram.

I don't believe a-England is able to ship directly to the US from the UK anymore (thanks EVERSOMUCH Royal Mail) but a-England polishes are also available at places such as NinjaPolish and Llarowe as well.

Rainbow Honey - The Robot Collection 2013

Good evening! Tonight I have the latest collection from Rainbow Honey: The Robot Collection!

Rainbow Honey Robot Collection

They came packaged so nicely, too!

Rainbow Honey Robot Collection

Check out the awesome artwork by Mary Winkler...

RainbowHoney-Robots-1

Illustration by Mary Winkler for Rainbow Honey

To create the collection, Rainbow Honey’s Chief Designer, Dee Maldonado, took inspiration from anime, video games, super cheesy B films, and the work of Mary Winkler, illustrator, jewelry and textile designer.

The collection consists of 6 new polishes described by the maker as follows:

Bitty Love BotSparkling metallic aqua
Femme BotSparkling metallic peony
Dusty BotSparkling metallic lavender
Lucky BotSparkling metallic agave
Skyward Bot -  Sparkling metallic cerulean
YoshimiA truly mod black & white combination of glitters sprinkled with a bit of iridescence

All of these polishes, with the exception of Yoshimi, applied basically the same. I used two coats of each of these with no top coat and no base coat. These LOOK like you can get by with one coat because the first coat looks like full-opacity but upon further inspection, I saw a few balds spots as they dried and did have to use two for full opacity. They do apply much like most metallic polishes in that you don't want to over-manipulate or you will get brush strokes. Knowing this going in, though, since I'm used to metallics, I didn't have any issues. I was actually pleasantly surprised I didn't end up having to re-do any nails or go over them because of brush strokes. Yoshimi is a clear-based glitter polish and I had no issues with the glitters coming out nicely and spreading evenly on the nail.

Now on to the photos...

What do you think of these? Which is your favorite? Are you a metallic fan? Normally I'll always pick green over blue but this time I think I'm going with Skyward Bot as my favorite of this collection.
