The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Day 5 Chocolate!

Nothing to Disclose

There were so many things I wanted to try to do for The Digit-al Dozen Thankfulness Week. So many things for which to be thankful. HUGE things, and the little things. It's weeks like these I realize how limited I still am with my nail art, scaling painting down to 10 tiny little bits of keratin as a canvas.

I tried a few things and ended up running out of time and what was on my nails when the countdown ended is what you get. I'll show you the ones I didn't use at the end.

Chocolate!

Yes, I had a break and had to "nubbinize." I'm not what you'd call a true "chocoholic" but I do appreciate a smooth, yummy bit of chocolate now and again. Plain milk chocolate for me. While I can appreciate a gourmet bit of swiss milk chocolate as much as the next guy, I'm also just as happy with a Hershey's Kiss. Although the toffee in a good ol' Heath Bar is my favorite. And don't, under any circumstance, get me a "box of chocolates." There are like 2 pieces from the box I'll eat. LOL!

For this mani I used Zoya Emilia as my base on the fingers and Zoya Nyssa and Spencer (the base on my thumb) and the "foil" wrapper is Different Dimension Silver Lining. The 4 fingers are a quick and easy spray marble using rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Double-dipped with Nyssa and then Spencer.

What's your favorite chocolate?

Be sure and check out the links below to see the other great Digit-al Dozen manis!

And the ones I didn't use?

Purple Heart. I just wasn't loving it.

"Jellyfish" mani...I couldn't figure out how to work it into the thankfulness theme. I live right on the coast and the coastal waters are infested with jellyfish, especially this time of year. But I'm not sure that's something I'm particularly thankful for LOL!

6 Hart Polish: Bad Bad Lulu Brown and Mountain Nights - Swatches and Review

*This product is Cruelty Free

6 Harts Polish
Bad Bad Lulu Brown & Mountain Nights

Tonight I'm especially happy to be showing you two polishes I got to see manifest from pea-sized ideas to fruition and I have to say they both turned out better than I expected. And I know Courtney and was expecting bottles of gorgeous already. She really outdid herself on these two.

Bad Bad Lulu Brown was made for a mutual friend and brown-lover and Mountain Nights was inspired by a photograph of Courtney's beautiful Montana sky. I think she captured it perfectly.

Milani Chocolate Sprinkles for Frugal Friday

Happy Black Friday!

I took the day off from posting yesterday, but today I have another Under $5 polish for you...Milani Chocolate Sprinkles.

Chocolate Sprinkles is a chocolate brown shimmer polish. My skin is mostly neutral in that I can wear cool colors and *some* warm colors. This brown leans warm but I think it's one that both warm and cool skin tones can pull off easily. The application was great - smooth formula. Two coats for opacity and no top coat for the photos below. Check out all the colors in the close up photo! Gold, copper, lavender, green...Yummy.

What do you think of this one? I love it - makes me feel warm and cozy.

Milani polishes can be found at Walgreens, Target and various other retailers and e-tailers and they retail for around $4.49 per bottle.

butter LONDON Tee Total - Swatches and Review

Good Morning Americans (and everyone else) - it's FRIDAY. (Man I miss Paul Harvey.)

This morning I have butter LONDON Tee Total for you. There have been so many new butter LONDON polishes lately, that I've lost track, but this is one of the about 15 or so new ones and it's a yummy chocolate brown creme that actually falls just beyond the line on the cool side of the spectrum to my eye except in direct late afternoon sun it actually reads warm. I think this is one that can be worn by both warm and cool skin tones.

Application was perfect and it was opaque and even in two coats. Shown in all photos below with no top coat.

What do you think of this one? Of course this sort of color is my go-to color for everything from vacation (because it goes with everything) to office, so naturally I love it.

butter LONDON polishes are available at butterlondon.com and selected retail stores like ULTA (and most recently, Dillard's Department Stores) and they retail for $14.00 for .4 ounces. To stay up-to-date on special deals and offers, you can "like" them on Facebook here. Tee Total is just one of the over 80 colors they offer, in addition to various indulgences for your hands and feet...and even your lips. The nail lacquers are 3-free and butter LONDON is a Cruelty-Free company. That's a major plus for me.

Now onto MY first VoxBox!

Not bad. There's only one product I won't be reviewing, but more on that later.

First up CHOCOLATE!!!

Ghirardelli Chocolate

I already like Ghirardelli chocolate, so this was EASY. It's Smooth, creamy, rich and YUMMY. Well, it WAS. Yes, it's gone already. No, I didn't share.  But I haven't used my $1.00 off coupon yet. Maybe I'll share those when I get them. Maybe.

Retails for $2.99.

Ghirardelli gets a 10 out of 10. (I mean really...it's CHOCOLATE!)

Next... herbal tea.

Stash Herbal Tea

Stash Herbal Tea

Stash Herbal Tea

I actually do drink tea. Most always HOT tea. And I like fruity flavors, so this hit the mark for me. I read the descriptions of the assorted flavors and was a bit skeptical because I'm (unfortunately) NOT usually one for anything that even sounds remotely "healthy."  But I set that aside and gave it a try. I picked the Blueberry to try first. It was great AND nothing about the taste said "healthy" to me, so I'm good! I will be saving the Chamomile for a guest, though. I don't love chamomile anything.

Retails for $3.50

I'd definitely give Stash Herbal Tea a 10 out of 10.

Next up KISS Nail Dress Decals...

KISS Nail Dress Decals

KISS Nail Dress Decals

When I received the box, I still had pretty long nails. I will say that these don't work on EVERY shape nail, especially when they're long. I mean you probably could make them work if you had a little more patience than I do. But I can see them working well on most any short nails. So...I chopped off the nails! (It was time anyway.) They're easy to apply and worked about a kajillion times better than the Sally Hansen ones I tried once. I am sure even that experience was at least partial "user error" but I didn't have a problem applying the KISS ones after I cut my nails. And if I took a little more time, they'd look even better. This was my first time using them. They lasted for 5 days and that's only because I finally just took them off. I don't know if they would go 10 or not, but based on wear for those 5 days, they probably would.

Price: $6.99

I'd give KISS Nail Dress Decals an 8 out of 10 because 1)  the shape of your nails and how they curve as they grow and how long they are directly affects whether these will work for you.  2) You get one Mani/Pedi for $6.99. Now if you're comparing to going to a salon, it's DIRT cheap, but if you do your own nails as I do, that's the cost of a drug store brand nail polish and I can get a LOT more manis/pedis out of that.

BUT...I have TINY hands and the usual issue, not having ANY that are small enough without major scissor surgery, wasn't an issue. AND a fun design that you don't have to freehand or Konad for a special event or night out? Definitely. I would probably buy these. (And after the Sally Hansen nail sticker debacle, I never thought I'd say THAT!)

Next...Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

I'll be honest. At first, I thought, "Meh, a razor."

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

I know this is trivial but I HAVE to mention the packaging. I can't TELL you how much I HATE this kind of plastic impossible-to-get-into packaging. But it's NOT! Finally someone figured out a way to have protective packaging and still allow the customer to open it without profanity! I don't know if you can see in my photo, but it was EASY to open. No cussing, no scissors or box cutters. THANKS Gillette!

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Look at the little suction cup and holder! You can just hang it on your shower and not have to chase it all over the tub or shower floor! (Yes, it's the little things that make me happy - LOL!)

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Again though, packaging and suction cup aside, it is still just a razor. Or is it? I tried it out last night and it's pretty darned amazing. Of course I'm used to the Daisy disposables that come in a 10 pack. So I might be easily impressed at this point. The Olay moisture bars really made quite a difference to this plain ole soap shaver!  And Gillette's five blades left my legs feeling like they'd been waxed! Another thing I liked is that with the moisture bars, I didn't feel like I was going to nick myself, which can happen all too easily with a brand new razor.

Retails for $8.99 - $10.99.  Available in stores starting March 15th (today!)

I give Gillette Venus & Olay Razor 9 out of 10. There was a bit of a slimy feel from the Olay bars as I was shaving. I'm sure I will get used to that feeling though. As I said, a daisy and a bar of soap was my norm before. The price is quite a bit more than "a daisy and a bar of soap" but I think keeping it under $12.00 will probably save it. I will buy refills and keep using this. Very pleasantly surprised.

Lastly we have Truvia Natural Sweetener.

Truvia Natural Sweetener

This is the product I haven't reviewed. I have a friend who is diabetic and uses "sugar substitutes" and I will give it to her for evaluation. After everything with aspartame (yes I KNOW this probably is not comparable but those of you who know me well will understand) I use sugar and sugar only. I haven't researched the "Stevia plant" or "natural" claims and so I will hold off trying it until I do. I will get back to you with her thoughts on it.

Overall, I think this was a good VoxBox. I've found a few products I will continue buying that I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise.

What do you think? Have you tried any of these products?

Cult Nails Power Thief Swatches and Review

I finally received my Cult Nails order!!! The post office decided to keep it an additional 2 days. Grrrrr. I already had Unicorn Puke (nka Clairvoyant) - one for myself and one for the giveaway but I needed the other three in the Super Powers Collection. I also ordered Enigmatic and another base and top coat because I've almost finished off my first bottles. Love their base and top coats (Get It On and Wicked Fast!)

The one I was looking most forward to was Power Thief. It just looked like "my" color. It's like a milk chocolate/taupy color with lots of silver micro-glitter. I think I can even see some pink glitter in certain light. It went on smoothly and took two coats to even everything out.

Yep, I'm gonna love it.
