piCture pOlish Bewitch - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

piCture pOlish
Bewitch

piCture pOlish Bewitch by Aire the Obsessed is, at first glance, a brown. No, an aubergine. No wait! It's so complex! It actually is a purple jelly base loaded with shimmer and micro-flakes. The generous helping of golden shimmer cast a gorgeous brown tint. There are bits of copper, lavender and even teal micro-flakes...and if you don't believe me, check out the macro at the end!

Illamasqua Gothiqua - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Illamasqua Gothiqua

Limited Edition
The Bay Canada Exclusive Shade
The Sacred Hour Collection

Illamasqua Gothiqua is a limited edition shade from the Sacred Hour Collection created as an exclusive shade for the grand opening of the Illamasqua store at The Bay Canada. This one is a gorgeous shade of aubergine with purple undertones, blue-leaning purple undertones, making it a perfect cool-toned polish. It also has a gorgeous shimmer. I can't decide if it's green, blue and violet shimmers or a color-shifting shimmer. The thing I loved about this one is that the shimmer isn't so in your face as to appear frosty. Perfect formula and application. Creamy, smooth and perfectly self-leveling.

Zoya Casey Swatches and Review

Wow. Zoya Casey is certainly a vampy lil thang!

Creme. Highly pigmented. Super high gloss shine. Vampy aubergine. So indulgent!!!

It reads really dark on me, but it's such a gorgeous color! In the second photo, you can see the purple showing through in the bottle. (and also in my pre-clean up cuticles. :-/)

MAC Festive Finery Swatches - Holiday 2011

MAC Festive Finery

I just can't help myself with mushroomy/taupy/purply colors. I don't know what's wrong with me. I intended to stop by the Chanel counter ONLY. But the MAC counter was right there! And of course I spotted this baby. Festive Finery is one of two creme polishes MAC included in their 34 piece Holiday 2011 Collection called Glitter and Ice. The other nail polish color is called Get Noticed and is a bright red (blue undertoned) creme. I have reds coming out my ears right now, so I didn't pick this one up.

While doing the mani, I kept thinking this was something I just had on.  Well, I grabbed my bottle of Zoya Petra and discovered this...

I'm reserving judgment until I can do better comparison photos and compare application/formula, etc. But right now, I'd say if you have one, you really don't need the other. Of course you may want to take that with a grain of salt, given that I have probably 10-15 of shades in this color family.

Zoya Petra

Zoya Petra has been sitting on my shelf for a while and thanks to insomnia last night, I'm finally wearing it!  Can't imagine what took me so long!

Zoya Petra is part of the Smoke part of their 2011 Fall Smoke and Mirrors Collection. Zoya's website describes it as a "smokey eggplant mauve creme." That's pretty accurate. I would probably describe it as a greyed out aubergine creme. About the same thing.  You'd think, since I am such a green-lover, that Dree would be my favorite of this collection since it's an olive creme, but I'm surprised to find out that while I LOVE Dree, this Petra is just such a unique color that it's my favorite. It's not purple, it's not grey, it's not mauve, it's just...unique!

Application was smooth and creamy. Photos show two coats and a Seche Vite top coat (which caused shrinkage, so I'll probably go back to Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat for this one) but because of my 3 am application, I could probably do a third coat to even things out.

As with most colors, different lighting brings out different looks. This one is no exception.

Please keep in mind it was 3 am when I did this mani...it's quite obvious from the photos that I did no clean up. Sorry.

And finally, the close up - best color capture in this one (below) I think, but it does read quite a bit darker on me in most lighting than it appears in the bottle.

Zoya Petra
I think it's probably going to be my go-to color for travel because it doesn't clash with anything - replacing Rimmel London Steel Grey for that.

What do you think? It is too plain/boring for you? Or is it unique and interesting?
