Thrifty Thursday! Starring Kleancolor Plum

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Today's Thrifty Thursday offering is Kleancolor Plum

Artificial lighting

Violets are my favorite in summer (well okay, all year) but in winter I adore deeper plums. I wear this one pretty often. Two coats, no top coat for the photos. I get tip wear pretty quickly. Creme Finish.

Except for this one, I don't wear Kleancolor that often - no one around me sells it. But they retail for $3.49 on the Kleancolor site. They have frequent $1.99 sales and I've heard they can be found pretty easily in some beauty supply stores for cheap. I don't wear them if I'm on vacation and need my mani to last more than a day or two. And the smell is quite strong. Not Elf-strong and it's not a fakey, perfumey scent - fades pretty quickly. But I know it's bothersome for some people.

Indirect natural lighting...

What do you think? Do you wear Kleancolor polishes? What are your must-have colors?

Thrifty Thursday! With Kleancolor Fashionista

I *almost* didn't post a Thrifty Thursday post tonight because I just had the hardest time with the polish I chose. I've tried several Kleancolor polishes with varied results. Some great, some not.

The one I have for you tonight I chose because it perfectly matched the pants I wore today. And I had a couple of hard-to-find/discontinued, coveted polishes to do a comparison for you.

Especially after viewing my photos and the absolute mess I made and lack of clean-up, I was pretty embarrassed to post them. BUT...I decided long ago that I wanted this blog to show everything - the good, the bad and the ugly - so here ya go!

Kleancolor Fashionista - it's one of those "baby poop" greens that I just love. I used two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. Please kindly overlook the aforementioned mess. The formula on this one is a tad thicker than I am used to with Kleancolor polishes and didn't self-level at all. It could be that my bottle is too old and I need to add some thinner. However, in the comparison at the end, I can't say I liked the RBL No More War formula any better.

And a comparison with RBL No More War and Illamasqua Hectic...

As you can see, none are dupes, but if you're looking for something with the same "look" it is somewhat similar to RBL No More War that is discontinued. Hectic is brighter and not as murky and nearly impossible to find.

Kleancolor polishes can be purchased on-line from various e-tailers and at select beauty/nail salons and retain from $1.75 - $3.00 per bottle.

Short Nails Days 5-12

Sort of.  They're starting to grow out enough that I don't feel totally odd with darker polishes.

Days 5 and 6

Clarins 225 "Mannequin Hands"
The tip wear was getting to me so day 7 I layered over Clarins 230, affectionately known in Nail Polish circles as Unicorn Pee because of its rarity.  Clarins discontinued it, making it instantly coveted. And really, Unicorn Pee does make everything better.  It's fabulous gold/red douchrome shimmer embedded in a translucent red polish.  Looks great over just about anything.

Days 9 and 10

Nfu-Oh 64 - Again

Kleancolor Holo Pink
Day 11

Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant with Kleancolor Purple Holo as accent finger
Day 12

Borghese Mochaccino and Palermo Plum toothpick zigzag

The Kleancolors polished FINALLY arrived.  The "holos" are scattered holo shimmers and not the linear holo goodness that I prefer, but I like them.  Application was great and the brush design is acceptable.  The Nfu-Oh 64 is a great linear holo, which is why I keep going back to it.

I'm still awaiting the arrival of my Spectraflair so I can try a few linear holos on my own.  I only ordered 2 grams of it, but if it works out, I may have to start ordering it by the pound! =)  I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever get here.  It's been over 2 weeks and nothing takes THAT long to get to me.  Still hopeful, though.  But I have had things lost in the mail before.  We will see.
