Real deal - '68 Trans Am car
This belongs to a local SE MI racer. He takes it out to a few vintage track events and car shows each year.
This is a real '68 Shelby Trans Am series racecar ... in '68 this chassis was the backup. ![]() The ground shakes when this sucker is running. I remember the first SAAC-MCR (Shelby Automotive America Club - Motor City Region) show I attended back in '94 at Ford world HQ in Dearborn. There were about 6 real racecars there - GT350Rs, '67/8 Trans Am, and '69-70 Boss 302s. They arranged to have them all fire up and drive around the complex at the same time ... OH THE SOUND and feeling of that! There was even a '67/8 GT500 prototype there (green if I recall) that had a Shelby-designed IRS ... I haven't seen that car again since that event.

I remember seeing it race at the WATERFORD HILLS Historic Races, and the ground did indeed rumble when that group hit the track.

If you're into that stuff, youreally owe it to yourself to attend the BRIC at Road America. Sadly, they piled up a bunch of vintage TA iron at the very start last year

Oh yeah, the BRIC is fantastic and we plan on attending again this year to work as flaggers. I'm really glad we weren't there to see last years carnage on the front straight
