Scott,
You could purchase an Y-shaped piece like the one in the picture below and connect the clock vent to an existing air hose from the air box.

The picture is from another thread on my vent system. This may also be of interest to those who are deleting the stock air box.

I think there's more than one part number that will get you the part, which makes sense if it was used in a lot of different vehicles. I got an email two days ago that mine had shipped to me, after being told that a different version (different part number) was backordered.

Big thanks to Wavey - my vent arrived a few days ago. The man wouldn't accept a cent from me, which is really above and beyond all expectations. I really appreciate it Wavey, thanks mate, and hope I can return the favour in the future

Though I was ultimately thinking of an eyeball-type vent, I have to say that this looks very clean and could be the permanent solution. Was down at the track yesterday with a buddy who is racing his 993 Cup car in this weekend's Britcar 24 hour at Silverstone, and to combat the warmer weather here at the minute, he has turned up a marine fan which is just about the same diameter as the vent fittings (the 993 has ducting directed at the driver). I am thinking this fan wired/plumbed via the modified intake could be just the ticket. Will post pics of the fan when I collect mine.

Good idea. I'd suggest installing a variable resistor or multi-speed blower switch to vary the air flow from the bilge fan.

Yes, will do that Sherwood. Some of these bilge blowers push 2500 litres a minute so best to run it multi-speed. I was in a 930 the other day (GeorgeK's old Kiln Red one) with an inset multi-speed switch to the right of the steering column, totally factory and totally pukka - just the ticket for this job.

That pic is the one I meant Ace, 3 inch is the right size. They are out there for about a tenner if you look in the right places. You can also get them in black, which pleases my anally-retentive tendencies no end

I've thought about doing exactly this, in conjunction with a 3-inch or 4-inch marine fan. But since I'm electronically feeble, here's a request:

Could someone point me to a multi-speed switch that would work for this application?

Googling it hasn't worked for me, and a cheap volume control dial didn't do the trick.

Jack, remember the rheostat-type A/C fan switch that someone (Griffiths?) makes? Wouldn't that do the job and look fairly OEM?

EDIT: OK, forget that, $299.00 and more than just the switch.

I got my vent a couple days ago. The size is perfect, and it has a nice feel when you open it. Thank you Wavey

I will probably use some silicone sealant to hold it in place. Another way would be to use the stock rubber grommet. The went would then stick out a bit, but be able to rotate for a greater adjustability of the airflow.

Here are some pictures. By the way - my instrument panel is also the home of Scruffy's old tach

The same type of vent is found in the 2003+ Mazda 6 (and probably other Mazdas too). Not sure of the exact size. I could check if anybody's interested.

I rented a Pontiac G6 last fall, and it had the same vent too, exactly the same as the Ford part, although with chrome trim. These should be showing up in the salvage yards.

Does anyone in the UK know where I get hold of one of these vents? I quoted the part numbers to my local ford dealer and his system did not recognise them

It measures 2-13/16" OD at the back, where a hose would mount. The back tube projects out 2-3/8" from the back of the face, total depth 2-1/2". I'm tempted to go pull my clock out to see how well it fits, but I've got billable stuff that needs attention. Maybe tomorrow. Here's another pic:

I think I saw something like that advertised as a "fleshlight"....err wait maybe that was something different
