What is this Gemballa 930 worth?
Okay, here's a hard one:
I have been searching for a 911/930 for a while and stumbled across this unique 'piece'. It is a Eurospec 1981 930 Turbo Gemballa Avalanche Pearl white Steel slantnose and steel rear fenders Fiberglass 'Testarossa' venting and tail ( not my cup of tea ) Shows 34769 miles and title and documentation support it The car's original full-on white interior is gone (some black pieces there now incl Sport Recaros) The engine and trans are available, but out of the car as the seller would rather keep (he told me the $$ it would take) The car has sat for over three years and is tacky at best But it does have a 'real' 930 shell, clean title with low miles, 81 Turbo suspension and brakes. What is it worth? What is the zero-mile engine worth? (just fully redone by PO, reason it sat was broken studs / blown head gaskets) What is the 35K mile trans worth? And if I bought it for the rolling tub, what is the Gemballa body worth? (complete nose, fenders, hood, doors, complete rear quarters, tail, etc.) VIN: WP0JA0934BS0500** Build date: 04/81 Any VIN decode is appreciated! Weird opportunity....looking for your opinions and input. Not my car, so no offense will be taken. E |

Err...I dunno.
In my eyes it's worth less then OEM 930-styled car. You're talking tacky bodied tub w/o interior and without engine/tranny? ...It better be cheap. Maybe if you restore it and sell it to Vanilla Ice or something...

What is cheap?
It does have interior, (dash/gauges/carpet/console/Recaros) But they aren't original (black) or in good condition The car is from Miami....maybe Don Johnson would want it? E Last edited by kaisen; 02-02-2005 at 04:55 PM.. |

You could have "Crockett and Tubbs" stenciled on the doors.

Now in 993 land ...
|
Just sum up the value of the turbo specific parts, e.g. brakes and a decent tub and you will have your value. You can find references for those prices on ebay and the sale saction here. I can not see anyone outside of Miami buying the Gemballa kit for good money. Maybe some of the body mans customers who had posted a wide body/slant conversion about a year ago could find a customer? Sunset Fun, was his handle, before he deleted all his posts ...

I was following that widebody thread, it was cool.
Why did "Sunset Fun" delete all his posts? |

They don't call it a 'smuggler's box' for nothing!
Maybe if there's $5000 in there, it would be worth what the guy is asking. |

7500.00 for a new Turbo documented motor??? MAYBE a long block... Complete more like 10,000.00+ Depends on the builder... Plan on more with install and other little things...
The car??? What are you thinking?

I'm pretty sure there is a 78 Turbo motor with 45-50K posted here for $6000 so I figured a little more.
If I could get $10000 for the motor, it would justify buying the whole car in pieces. E |
