help me find a leaf vacuum

i am looking for one of those leaf vacs that you tow behind your mower. i have way too many leaves and i just cant deal with the yard. i have done a search and found 2, the cyclone and the DR. other than that i get in this visious circle of link pages, you know, the ones that have what you are looking for but are just another page of links to a but of sites that link you to more sites.

any input as far as either of these go? the second one seems to be a shredder with a steel lifetime warrany blade, i did not see that the cyclone is a shredder and no wananty on the blade and i have a lot of those big walnut looking nuts in part of my yard.

i looked at one of those at sears. i have a LOT of leaves. i am also thinking maybe the tow behind might pick up horse poop.

I also mow them as I am picking them up. It cuts down on the volume significantly.

I wait for the wind to blow them into my neighbors yard.

Then I proceed to get a cooler full of beer, a comfortable chair and sit back and enjoy the show.

I tell my wife that I didn't put them there so I'm not cleaning them up.

Same goes for snow in the driveway.

I've been using one of these on my parents yard for the last 20 years. Had to replace the motor for the first time last fall. It does a very good job picking leaves and grassclippings.

I'd suggest going for one that shreds. Shredded leaves compost faster and have less volume in the bag.

Same here...have about an acre of leafs that makes the job fun with the trac-vac. Have to dump it twice to do the whole lawn...amazing how much gets packed in there.

I just watched our neighborhood guys use a big blower and a few tarps to wrangle a ton of leaves in now time.

i like the size of the cyclone. but does it shred the stuff too. the other has a lifetime warranty on the blade, but sometimes thats the lifetime of the company.

Yes it shreds some. You attach it to your lawn tractor so the leaves go through your lawnmower blades. The latest model is very easy to dump and it can hold a huge amount of leaves.

Also, the cyclone is rigidly attached to your lawn tractor with swivel wheels under the bag so you don’t lose a lot of mobility (your not backing up a trailer).

I've used a Sears model for a few years now. Two loads three times in the fall take care of my leaves (have a lot of oaks). I try to pick them up when there's a little moisture in the leaves, otherwise it's a bit dusty.
