New Toyota Tundra?
Is anyone looking at the new Tundra? Lot's of press and reviews of the the production truck have started to appear. The production hybrid won't be available for a few months. I'll be shopping for a new truck in 2-3 years. It will be interesting to see where powertrains go with the big 3 and how the new engine and the hybrid from Toyota hold up in real world use. Will hybrid torque negate the need for a diesel for towing?

I'm on a big Tundra forum.....Lots of crying there over the loss of a V8 engine. Many saying the "End of an Era" and they'll jump ship next time. I plan to keep my '15 for many more years.....

Doug Demuro has a review of the Tundra TRD-Pro. Meh, I really don't get the styling of trucks these days with the big ol grills.
Now, I'd take a Ram TRX though!!! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

IMHO - The auto industry follow each other in regards to industrial design. This is why currently they are having grill wars. Who can put the most hideous grill on a vehicle and still sell it. Lexus, of all brands, started this. BMW has thrown their hat in.
A few years ago it was tail lights. Who can have the biggest most ridiculous tail lights taking up 30% of the rear and side of the vehicle. Thankfully this one is calming down.

I have a 2015 Tundra that has been perfect. I hope it is my last bigger truck. I am interested in how well the hybrid works, just in case

My 2011 Tundra Limited 4x4 with 5.7 V8 has been troublefree with over 100k miles and has more power than I could ever need. I pulled an 8500 lb camper 800 mile round trips twice with it and it would easily run any speed up any hill I wanted it to. I can't imagine the newer smaller engined trucks will fair as well with high mileage. Hopefully my 2011 lasts me many more years before I will have to replace it with one of these newer ones.

When the 80-series Land Cruisers came out, I thought they were ugly, bulbous, soccer-mom vehicles - not the rugged, leaf-sprung beasts that the 40s/60s were. Now I own an 80 and think it is actually more of a rugged beast than the 60s - and it looks good. Same thing when the 5th gen 4Runners came out. I actually thought it was a joke - that hideous front fascia. Now I own one and think they look great. I still think the Tundra's front end is hideous, though. If I wanted a truck with a giant, ugly grill I'd buy a Chevy.

In a positive or negative way? I've tried to watch the video a few times. That is tough to get through. How many times can he say quirks, with his arms flaying about, and showing the 50 places it says TRD or the ugly camo everywhere?

All I know is my uncle had a Toyota Pickup and it was indestructible. My Mother in Law's husband couldn't get rid of his Tundra quick enough with all the issues he had. I don't think the Toyota today is the Toyota of even 10 years ago.
Oh, and that is an ugly truck. So are the new GM/GMC trucks. LEGO makes a truck with better curves.

The dash/infotainment are crazy. Who wants to see a cam shot circling the truck??
Terrible.

I don't know how but I forced myself to watch the whole video. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out which roads he was driving on down in SD.
Who would want a truck that BIG and ugly too? Wasn't it just a while ago that you could get the same 'utility' in a much smaller package in a full sized truck? I know I'm a dinosaur, but when the hood of a truck comes up to shoulder level, and I'm 6' tall, it's too high for me. They're going to have to redesign the tailgate to add a step because of all the sales they'll loose from not having one.

i like the new look. the grill is a bit much, but whatever. i cant see it from the drivers seat wearing sunglasses.
it will be a difficult truck to buy. i do however wish Toyota sent the new hybrid Tacoma out first. seems like they would sell a billion of those right from the get-go.
