chameleon aqua review

And the second Filofax in my order! The personal Chameleon in aqua...

And the spine...

And the Filofax. I have to say, my first thought was that the colour is just beautiful and the leather is a cross between that of the Finsbury and that of the Finchley. More supple than my Finsbury but it doesn't lie flat out of the box like my Finchleys, and the leather is still quite sturdy.

The inside: card slots to the right...

Notice that the pen loop is on the left: something that I'm not used to...

And the back: a zipped compartment.

Overall, I have to say that I LOVE this organiser! The colour, the style, the hardwearing-ness of the leather, I love it! 8/10 for me. Reasons?

{ it does not lie flat out of the box but it might do with use }
{ the pen loop is on the left; as a right hander, I find this a bit impractical }

I have since moved into this as my main Filofax - and a set up post will be up in a few weeks!

  1. Hi, been wanting this, even more so now, boo. (: Is it set up the same as your Finchley?

    And it is leather isn't it? Maybe you just mis-typed that last portion above.

    1. Massive, massive typo! Thanks for that :) Dissertation writing must've driven me crazy hehe.

      Yes it is leather :) and a set up post will be up in a few weeks once I've got my project and project viva out of the way next week! x

  2. Honestly, I've never found the Chameleon so appealing before it showed up on your blog! This is the only color Chameleon that's ever piqued my interest.

    I prefer a left-side penloop as a right-hander, because it's not in my way when I'm writing on pages near the back of my book -- which is where I keep my most active pages in order to avoid the Battle with the Rings when writing on the verso. It also helps make the back zip pocket a tiny bit easier to get into. I have a dual-loop FIlofax, and I often use the left loop only. In the end, though, I suppose it boils down to what one can get used to.

    Hope your dissertation-writing is going well. One of my best friends and my domestic partner are working on dissertations currently. (Well, friend is writing her thesis for an MS and my partner is writing his PhD dissertation.) Don't forget to give yourself plenty of brain-restoring breaks!

    Looking forward to the set-up post.

    1. Hey! I haven't heard from you for a while. I have to admit, the Chameleon never really appealed to me either as I always saw it as another Finsbury type model; until someone commented on the fact that it was a bit more supple than the Finsbury. They were right! I have a Finsbury and find that it doesn't lie flat so I kinda lost interest in it but this one lay flat after a day or so of training.

      I'm still not sure about the pen loop... I think I'd prefer a Filofax that had two pen loops; one on each side as I do tend to use more than one colour and it would also help with balancing out the Filofax when it is flat.

      Thanks. I've finished my dissertation now so just editing, and editing, and editing. I'm hoping to have it handed in on Friday (my deadline is Monday) so fingers crossed! x

    2. Yay on finishing up the dissertation. I'll definitely cross my fingers for you too.

      I've been an old dog learning new tricks lately, so my internet time has been blurred and rushed (or non-existent). Things are settling down a bit, though, so I'm looking forward to more Paper Lovestory goodness to enjoy at the proper leisure pace!

  3. Hi! I'm a big fan of the Chameleon - I have both the pocket and compact in raspberry. I also have a Finsbury in aqua and wonder how the aqua colour compares. Is it a bright aqua? It looks rather dull and grey on pictures I've seen and I've never seen one 'in the flesh' so to speak.

    1. Heya. I only have the Finsbury in raspberry so I can't help you there. Unless, of course, you mean the Finchley's? I have one in Jade and one in Teal so if that's what you mean, I can take some pictures of them in a natural light for you in a few weeks time? x

    2. Hi Angela! No I mean the Finsbury in aqua. It's a very intense and rich turquoise, absolutely beautiful. I also have a teal Finchley that's on eBay right now.

  5. Ah lovely. I keep swapping between my Malden and my Chameleon. I am currently using the Malden but your post has made me start moving everything over! I love the Malden but there's something about the Chameleon isn't there? It's so much more "glam" I think!

  6. Hiya Angela - loving the blog.

    Yay to the Aqua Chameleon :-D. Got mine last week (and my first Filofax ever) at the bargin price of £20.99 - an I'm loving it. I inititally wanted an A5 Finsbury and just happened upon this beauty on eBay. So glad I took the plunge and bidded (is that a word???, lol) on it. I'm still planning on getting an A5 as my "everything but the kitchen sink" Filofax, with goals, projects, wishlists, info etc... But the Chameleon is a great fit for my bag as my personal agenda/ to do/ list Filo. Glad you're loving it as much as I am.

    1. Ah, I'm pretty sure I was watching the auction that you won! I was considering bidding too but at that point, my Chameleon hadn't arrived from Filofax so I wasn't sure if I would love it hehe x

  7. The Chameleon is a beautifully tactile filo, and looks lovely in all colours that I have had the good fortune tosee in the flesh so far. I have the aqua in A5 and it is such a lovely colour. It was all down to a friends personal Raspberry Chameleon that I bought my first ever filo, and now I am obsessed :o)

  8. Aqua is lovely, and I'm sure Raspberry is too (if its a similar colour to the raspberry Finsbury as I have one of those). You should! I regret not getting an Almond Amazona in the sale and now I'm trawling the internet in the hope of finding one in a personal size! x
