Alternative metal rockers Throw The Fight, have released a new album called "Transmissions" after mentioning a couple of years ago, that the band was done. But apparently they aren't, so they have gone on to write and record this release, and play some shows, and even go on tour. Guitarist Ryan Baustert discusses about the band''s time of being done, as well as the new album and what plans they have next!

1. Back in June 2014, you had an announcement about calling it a day, and then doing a final show, stating

"After 11 years of being a band, we have decided to move in another direction and focus on different areas of our lives (family, other careers, etc)."We can look back on our years as Throw The Fight knowing that we have accomplished everything we set out to do and had a hell of a good time doing it! With that being said, it's time to see what else is out there for us personally and professionally. Change is good. We want to thank our families, friends, fans, bands we've shared stages with and our team behind the band for all of the support that you've given us since Day 1. It means the world to us. "We will be playing a final show on August 23rd at The Fine Line in Minneapolis with Emergent, 5th Hour and The Missing Letters. Details and ticket info will be coming later this week. It's going to be a night to remember. Don't miss it!" But two years later, you guys are still alive and well? Can you elaborate as to what happened between then and now?

Ryan: After 11 years of touring almost non-stop, we felt that we needed some time away so that we could all focus on our families and other entrepreneurial opportunities. We needed a break so that we could recharge the batteries and hopefully get to a creative spot again down the road.

2. You will be releasing the follow-up release to "What Doesn't Kill Us" entitled "Transmissions" you saying that this album is the heavier album to date. Define heavier album, what makes it so?

Ryan: It’s louder, harder, and a lot more aggressive.

3. How many albums will this be for record label Bullet Tooth? Are you really satisfied with what they have to offer you guys? Will you be sticking around from here on out or will be looking elsewhere or is there no telling?

Ryan: This is our 3rd release for the label. They have done a lot of great things for us over the years so we’re definitely happy. But we’re focused on the latest record currently so there is no telling what’s going to happen down the road. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

4. Can you tell us the story behind the song “Drown with Me", will it be made into an official video or just its lyrical counterpart?

Ryan: The song is about realizing you are trapped in a relationship that isn’t going anywhere and you’re just going through the motions. It’s about you both knowing its over and that it’s not going to end well, but it’s easier to stay trapped and unhappy than move on into the unknown. At this point, it will just remain as a lyric video. We don’t have any other plans to do an official video for this track, specifically.

5. How many more songs will be picked off "Transmissions" and be made into singles and or videos?

Ryan: Loudwire recently premiered the first official video from the record for “Don’t Let Me Down.” We are currently working on concepts for the next video which will be for “Bury Me Alive.”

6. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Ryan: We wanted the record to be heavier than our previous release. Other than that, the focus was to write the best songs possible.

7. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Ryan: Nope. We’re sticking to what we do best. Guitars, bass, and drums. But this record also has a lot of cool production elements like strings, keys, percussion, etc.

8. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous Throw The Fight albums?

Ryan: We started writing last June and the process was a lot different than previous records. I ended up building a small studio in my house and we demoed all the material there. It allowed us to crank out material really fast. Over the course of 4 months, we ended up with 25 songs in various stages of completion. We narrowed it down to 10 tracks and did the record at Carson and Grant’s studio over the course of 10 days.

9. "What Doesn't Kill Us" was a success. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

Ryan: We put enough pressure on ourselves to put out material to the best of our ability so there’s always that thought in the back of your mind.

10. Do you think this album is more or less accessible than "What Doesn't Kill Us"? Why?

Ryan: I think both records are accessible to fans of rock music. We’d prefer they listen and judge for themselves.

11. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Ryan: We’ll be supporting this record as much as possible and touring as much as we can in order to get it in front of people.

The boys in Bullet for my Valentine stopped by mid-year on Hard Drive Lives' first edition of this tour, since that one did such a splendid job Hard Drive Live came back around, for the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour featuring Bullet for my Valentine yet again, as well as Black Veil Brides, Stars In Stereo, and Throw The Fight. The six week run began none other than Los Angeles, California at the Club Nokia venue atop the complex of the Nokia Live/Staples Center attraction on September 28, 2013.

Kicking things off was 1 of 2 acts who were out of state/country Minneapolis, Minnesota's rock, metal, alternative's Throw The Fight. They brought the fists pumping with adrenaline and pure energy really, getting the crowd pumped and entertained with their array of fierce vocals and fast beating guitar riffs.

1. Bloodshot Eyes
2. His Blood
3. Lights Out For Summer
4. Cover Song
5. Life Saver
6. Concrete Shoes
7. One Step Away

This was continued when local act Stars In Stereo took over soon afterwards, with their passion melody driven rock ballads with pure rock force that kept everyone even more entertained than Throw The Fight had done. These guys really moved the crowd, everyone was either clapping along or shaking their body's to every other beat.

Stars In Stereo:

2. Night By Night
3. The Broken
4. Violence
5. Dealing Secrets
6. Fire Starter
7. All Together
8. Leave Your Mark
9. Every Last Thing

They surly put on a good performance but following them was another California local act that everyone was indeed there for besides the obvious, Black Veil Brides! These guys have been at it for quite some time, and now that they are up to album three, their loyal BVB Army fan base keeps them  going. Once they hoped upon the stage their presents was gladly welcomed but their equipment wasn't as welcoming, as all of their instruments microphone included weren't in check, the sound was there but it wasn't as loud blaring as would be Bullet for my Valentine's performance.

BVB:

Black Veil Bride's set was decent but could have sounded a whole lot better as far as quality is concerned - their song list covered a lot of the later material as opposed to their earlier works, ranging from "Legacy", "In The End", "Fallen Angels", Bullet Proof", and "Rebel Love Song", each and every song played was caught upon the singing lips of the crowd as everyone rose up their BVB spirit fingers with face paint in tow - it was all that Black Veil Brides needed to embrace the positive atmosphere that came from the heated crowd of the fans before them.

4. Rebel Love Song

11. In The End

Last but not least was the other 1 of the 2 acts that was considered an "out-of-state" performer this was United Kingdom's very own Bullet for my Valentine. The crowd was pumped enough as it were, so finishing off the night was an easy task at hand, the lights dimmed as Slayer's track "Reign in Blood" kicked things off with a instrumental track following through with the boys claiming the stage as their very own. Everyone in sight singing along, jumping up-and-down, or pushing and shoving one another from left to right, everyone clearly enjoyed the energy being fed off one another.  Front man vocalist and guitarist Matt Tuck took the reigns as being a solo vocalist without his guitar during the opening number of "Breaking Point" having a spare guitarist filling in. This was of course a surprise to many - but the fans didn't mind it. As such, the other songs played that night included "Temper Temper", "Riot", "Your Betrayal", "The Last Fight", as well as "Waking The Demon" and "4 Words to Choke Upon", clearly a variety of selection making the old meets the new. Everyone there thrilled anyhow while they sang along at the top of their lungs to the beloved songs, never breaking away from the moment in the making, just adding to it, making Bullet for my Valentine's performance that more memorable and enjoyable.

Bullet for my Valentine:

Bullet for my Valentine's touring cycles have come and go but as they continue to expand and develop as musicians their torch in the music scene; will carry on exposing them ever so further into the eye of the beholder in this scene called music.

Throw The Fight have premiered their new music video for "Lights Out For Summer" at VEVO! The video was directed by Graham Fielder (The Paramedic, Beyond The Shore) and was filmed while the band was on tour in Columbus, OH. Luckily the guys got the shots they needed in time before getting kicked out of the location by park rangers! Check out the video HERE.

Bullet Tooth Records had announced the worldwide signing of Minneapolis, Minnesota's Throw The Fight since that day they went on to record and write material for not one but two different releases. Their debut entitled "What Doesn't Kill Us" and upcoming EP "The Vault". With that these guys set the scene drawing in the crowds left and right with their music skills and now who knows what will happen next. Guitarist Ryan Baustert goes on to discuss the band's upcoming EP and whatever plans they have lined up next.

1. What's the origin of the band’s name?

Ryan: My grandfather was a boxer during WWII. The name is a tribute to him.

2. How did you come together?

Ryan: We formed in 2003 when I was going to college at UW – Stout.

3. You guys have a unique sound, which bands would you say influence you the most?

Ryan: Collectively as a band, we've always been influenced by Papa Roach, Killswitch Engage, Rise Against, and Story of the Year. Those bands are definitely big influences for us. When I was just getting into music it was Metallica, Black Sabbath, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Guns N Roses, etc during the early years.

4. How does What Doesn't Kill Us and The Vault differ and compare to one another?

Ryan: “What Doesn't Kill Us” is a full length album we did with John Feldmann out in LA. The Vault is an EP of music that we did prior to doing the last album. We tracked them with Ian Combs, a producer in Minneapolis. Sonically, “What Doesn't Kill Us” is more polished. The tracks on “The Vault” are more raw and in-your-face.

5. You guys had previously recorded these songs but were holding onto them for as you said a rainy day, why did you choose to hold onto these songs in particular, is there a reason?

Ryan: We had amassed 16 new tracks over the past year and a half that we were able to record. Too much for a full album. So we decided to hold a few of them back so that we could release an EP 6 months after the last album was released.

6. Do you guys have any new music in the works?

Ryan: We’re always writing and working on new material. Currently we’re writing in Minneapolis for the next album. Right now we've got about 8 or 9 songs in various stages of completion.

7. Why did you want to go with calling this release "The Vault"? Would you say that this is a concept release?

Ryan: I wouldn't call it a “concept release.” The name is simply a reference to having extra material that’s been stored away waiting to see the light of day.

8. Will you be shooting a new music video for any of the songs off "The Vault" release?

Ryan: Possibly. We will have some lyric videos coming out to support the release. We did shoot a video for our song, “Lights Out For Summer” when we were on tour in November. That song is off of “What Doesn't Kill Us” and will be getting released next month. So that will be the next “official” video from us.

9. This will be released on Bullet Tooth Records, what's your relationship been like with that label?

Ryan: It’s been great. They've done everything they said they were going to do for us and more.

10. There are a few shows you have coming up but what are the upcoming plans as far as touring goes?

Ryan: We just got back from doing a run with Nonpoint. All those shows were killer. Right now we’re working on other tours as we speak. All confirmed dates are posted online. But we’ll be announcing a new tour and other shows soon.

11. What are the plans for Throw The Fight for 2013?

Ryan: Continue to tour and promote our current releases. We’re hoping to also be able to make it over to Europe at some point this year, as well.

12. Anything else you want to say to your fans?

Ryan: We appreciate all of your support over the years! It’s been a blessing. Don't forget to connect with us online;
