After school this afternoon (which was a whole different kind of loud and unruly), I finished up my Amy Butler quilt top, and I'm really loving the way it turned out.
Yes, the colors are loud. Yes, the prints are busy, and the design is a bit unruly, but truth be told, that's what I like about it! Amy Butler fabrics are so vibrant and bold, and I think they really work in a pattern like this.
One of the best parts about this quilt though, is that it was so fast and easy to put together! It really looks a lot more complicated than it is. I enjoyed designing and making this one so much that I think this is going to be my next pattern!
I'm hosting our monthly MQG meeting at my house on Sunday afternoon, and maybe I'll have to pull some late nights to finish it up before then. It's only a throw size (54x72"), so that's totally doable...just maybe...
Yes, it is lovely! I do love all the colors and the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI like the pattern. How many different fabrics did you use? (please excuse me for not trying to count them myself. :-))
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors and fabrics in your Unruly quilt Kelly!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Love the pattern and it's the PERFECT size!

Such a fun quilt! Love your eye for color!
ReplyDeleteLove Amy Butler wild colors! Trying to figure out how you flipped the one piece in the skinny center strips? Did you unstitch a couple after you cut them off the bigger strips? Inquiring minds want to know.....
ReplyDeleteAnything made with Amy Butler is beautiful. I think the skinny cut strips help keep your eye moving. A lovely happy quilt. Will you be keeping this one for yourself?
ReplyDeleteI do like this!!
ReplyDeleteAmy Butler fabrics are too busy for me unless I use lots of solids (preferably white). I guess I'm just too OCD for that, even though they are beautiful fabrics. Congrats on another fun finish.
ReplyDeleteOh it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove the Amy Butler prints! Is such a happy vibrant quilt and I think the fabrics work so well with the unruly design!
ReplyDeleteNothing like an upcoming guild meeting (or linky) to push toward a finish! I was surprised to recognize one of the prints as one in my stash. Had no idea I had an Amy Butler print. With a little control of scale, value and motif, it is amazing what works together. Yours is fun indeed.
ReplyDeleteLove it! What a great pattern. Can't wait to see how it looks when quilted!
ReplyDeleteKelly it turned out great! Love all that color and pattern!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm all for loud and crazy. The more prints the better as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me to dig in my scrap baskets to come up with one of my own... only mine is more Low Volume.... still Unruly, though. Wanted to send a photo but can't figure how how...
ReplyDeleteLovely! Beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! Amy Butler quilts are my favorite! Well Done!
ReplyDeleteLove it Kelly! Colours are glorious!
ReplyDeleteI love this! You make me want to go out and buy tons of Amy Butler fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors!!! Looking forward to the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely quilt and just as you said, it is a lot of things with loud, bright and busy... but just as you do, I LOVE it and that is what MAKES the quilt! All of those fabrics work so well together you forget the busy part and you just see... "WOW"
ReplyDeleteVery nice quilt. Wonderful colors, plenty of life. Good Job!
