Dispersion Staining Color Chart

This chart shows the color that correspond to a particular wavelength at which the mounting medium and the particle match in refractive index. Two types of dispersion staining result in the colors shown here for a given wavelength match, Central Objective Stop and Darkfield dispersion staining. The matching wavelength can be determined by matching the color seen. Annular Objective Stop dispersion staining also gives only one color for a given match but it is much more difficult to accurately determine the more subtle colors.
