Bird Nest/Guide
Uses for Bird Nests
Bird Nests are the best source of many important seeds for different parts of the game:
- Potato Seeds: used to create Bird Nest Potion
- Strawberry Seeds: used to create Gentle Hands Potion
- Carrot Seeds and Magic Tree Seeds: used for two Very Hard difficulty Township Tasks (here)
There is also an Elite Difficulty Township Task that requires 1,000k (one million) Bird Nests.
- Magic Tree Seeds have a 1/1,010 drop rate from Bird Nests and the player needs 300, meaning 303,000 Bird Nests must be opened if the player has no other seeds.
- Carrot Seeds have a 9/1,010 drop rate from Bird Nests and the player needs 5,000, meaning 561,111 Bird Nests must be opened if the player has no other seeds.
These statements combined mean that if the player is to complete all of the required township Tasks while starting from nothing, approximately 1,561,000 Bird Nests must be acquired. Bird nests are a particularly volatile resource, under normal circumstances it may seem impossible to collect enough in a reasonable time frame, but this guide will explain the best ways to focus on getting these items to make the grind as painless as possible.

Chopping Logs With Bird Nests Potions
Requirements
Please note: Although the minimum requirements are low, using Bird Nest Potion IV and minimum action time are advised or else the acquisition rate drops dramatically.
Method
Cut Normal Logs to obtain Bird Nests, as these have the fastest default cut time. The goal is to perform actions at the minimum interval allowed by the game, 0.25 seconds, or 4 actions per second.
Note: If any trees of a higher level can be cut at 0.25s, feel free to cut those in addition or instead of the Normal Logs. Do not cut any other logs unless you need them for some other goal as doing so can significantly increase the action time, which decreases the amount of Bird Nests gained over time.
A portion of the nests can be opened for Potato Seeds to make more potions if required.
How to Achieve Min Interval (0.25s)
The primary difficulty in maximizing bird nest farming is reducing interval as much as possible. Several methods are listed below
- 0.5s interval cutting only Normal Trees with Dragon Axe, Master of Nature, Woodcutting Skillcape, Stepping Stones, and Level 99.
- 0.25s interval cutting only Normal Trees with all of the Base Game boosts plus either of the following:
- (Ideally) Superior Woodcutting Skillcape + Harold + Elite Pillar of Expertise
- Woodcutting Skillcape + Ent Eagle summoning synergy
- 0.25s interval cutting only Normal Trees with all of the Base Game boosts plus Terran Dungeon Ruins with Carthulu to double the effects, and full Cartography hex mastery.
Throne of the Herald + Atlas of Discovery with maximum boosts
- 0.25s interval on ALL trees up to (and including) Yew with all of the Base Game boosts plus Superior Woodcutting Skillcape (replaces the normal skillcape), Ent Eagle, Elite Pillar of Expertise, Harold, Candelabra Lit, Terran Dungeon Ruins with Carthulu to double the effects
The maximum rates assume:
- One of the above setups is being used for 0.25s intervals (or 0.5s for Base Game)
- Beavis is unlocked
- Divine Axe is purchased (or Dragon Axe for and )
- The following items are equipped: Aorpheat's Signet Ring, Ring of Wealth (in the Passive Slot), Clue Chasers Insignia, Lumberjack's Top
- The following cape is equipped: Superior Woodcutting Skillcape (or Woodcutting Skillcape for and )
- The Ent Bear Synergy is in use
- The 95% Woodcutting Mastery Pool Checkpoint is active
- Level 99 in the tree(s) being cut
- The following Agility obstacles are active: Stepping Stones (3), Rock Climb (5), Ice Jump (9), and Pillar of Skilling (P)
- Deedree provides both +8% chance to double items in Woodcutting, and +5% chance for Bird Nests to drop
- Terran Dungeon Ruins and Carthulu to double the effects
Per hour, this yields the following:
Item | Base Game | Atlas of Discovery | Throne of the Herald | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Qty | GP | Qty | GP | Qty | GP | |
Bird Nest | 8,812 | 3,084,200 | 17,578 | 6,152,300 | 29,126 | 10,194,100 |
Normal Logs | 15,119 | 15,119 | 33,118 | 33,118 | 30,240 | 30,240 |
Total | 3,099,319 | 6,185,418 | 10,224,340 |
The results were determined by using this save followed by the execution of game.testForOffline(100)

Thieving from the Lumberjack using Ent and Leprechaun Synergy
The Ent Leprechaun Synergy can be used to obtain 2 bird nests (instead of GP) when stealing from the Lumberjack.
Requirements
Ent Mark must be Level 3 and Leprechaun Mark Level 2 to use the Synergy. The success rate for stealing from the Lumberjack must be high to make this a viable strategy. Increasing stealth can be achieved by increasing your Thieving level, upgrading the Ko constellation, or items and potions listed under Thieving#Stealth_and_Perception.
Method
Create summoning tablets for Ent and Leprechaun and use them with their synergy while stealing from the Lumberjack. This awards 2 bird nests on every successful steal.
The maximum rates assume:
- 100% Success chance for Lumberjack
- The following is being used reduced interval:
- Lumberjack Level 50
- Gloves of Silence
- Superior Thieving Skillcape or Thieving Skillcape
- Grappling Hook
- Ko's -5% Thieving Interval
- Harold
- Zon
- Rooftop Run
- Elite Pillar of Expertise
- Bandit Hideout which is doubled with Carthulu
- Full Cartography hex mastery
Per hour, this yields the following:
Base Game | AoD | TotH | + | + + | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bird Nest | 4,343 | 5,333 | 6,545 | 8,999 | 10,285 |
Interval | 1.85s | 1.35s | 1.10s | 0.8s | 0.7s |
