My Favorite Christmas Home Tours

Christmas is just around the corner, y'all! I've loved following along with the many (many!) beautiful Christmas home tours that have popped up in blogland over the past couple of weeks. I'm basically living vicariously through them since going all out on decor just wasn't in the cards for us this year - we just moved into our new house a month ago! #priorities (Although I did post a "one room Christmas home tour" last week...catch it here if you'd like!)

If you enjoy pretty Christmas decor as much as I do, I figured you might enjoy a few peeks at some images from some of my favorite home tours. Let's take a look, shall we?

All this pretty farmhouse dining room from House Seven needed was some greenery to make it feel festive. How cool are those asymmetrical wreaths?

{House Seven}
Iron & Twine's cozy bedroom caught my attention with its garlands! I love the circle one on the tree and the vine-y one on the window trim.

Julia's home is always full of awesomely bold design choices and her Christmas decor is no different. I have a soft spot for flocked trees, and hers is just the prettiest in my opinion!

How cute is this Merry Christmas Banner above A Creative Day's bed? Sometimes it's the little things that can really make a room. Catch the rest of her tour here.
{A Creative Day}
Cedar garland cascading down the banister...yes please! I love the simplicity of the natural greenery at Julie Blanner's house.

And lastly, I couldn't leave out Aniko's pretty mantle. It just feels so festive. (More natural greenery!)

{Place of My Taste}

What kinds of Christmas decor do you have up at your homes? Whether a lot or a little (like me!), I hope you are enjoying this season. Happy Monday!

Updated Home Tour!

Last week in my All The Random Things post, I mentioned I'm working on a few behind the scenes things here on the blog and one of them is ready to share today...my updated home tour! I realized when I was gathering photos that I've actually changed a lot of little things around in our little row house since I took many of these photos (that still need photographing), so clearly, an update to the update is needed soon :). Baby steps, y'all, baby steps. I'm just glad our home tour reflects our current home!

If you're new around here, or just want to see (most of) our little 1850s Philadelphia row house in one fell swoop, click on the "Home Tour" link in the title bar to take a look! Enjoy!

A Very Merry Christmas Home Tour {Blog Hop!}

Welcome to my 2014 "A Very Merry Christmas Home Tour!" I'm so glad you're here! A big thanks to Carrie from Lovely Etc. for hosting this awesome tour this week. There are over 30 blogs participating, and I hope you'll get a chance to hop around and see all the other beautifully decorated homes. It'll be going on all this week.

For those of you who are new here, here's a bit of background about our little home before I jump into the photos. We rent a little row house in Philadelphia that was built in 1850. We love it, but as I'm sure many of you can understand, small homes certainly have their challenges - one of which is that it's only 12 feet wide! In total, the space adds up to 1000 square feet spread over three floors. My Christmas home tour today is of our first floor, which is one open space from the front of the back of the house that includes the kitchen, dining area and living room. Since space is limited (and we still live here in real life, ha!), we kept our Christmas decor simple. I also DIY'd many things, so you'll see some links to those projects along the way. :)

Let's get started!

Our living room is looking pretty cozy with its decorated mantle that includes a yarn pom pom garland (made from these yarn snowball ornaments), silver metal trees, candles and greenery.

The paint and glitter-dipped pine cone cluster wreath hanging on the left side of the fireplace is one of my favorite projects from last year, and I was excited to bring it out again this year! On a side note, we had our first fire in the fireplace a couple of weeks ago and it was so lovely. Wood-burning fires are one of my absolute favorite things in the winter.

I inherited these angels and Christmas trees from my grandparents. They're sweet, aren't they?

This silver starburst ornament from my 12 Days of Christmas lineup ended up being the perfect little "something" that our coffee table needed for Christmas. Behind it you can catch a sneak peek of my DIY'd Advent calendar - full post for that coming on Thursday this week!

When it comes to simple decorating, there's nothing easier than filling a clear bowl with a bunch of pretty ornaments. This collection of silver and clear glass ornaments look so elegant gathered together in this footed bowl (plus they're a mix of vintage and new, which I love!).

Moving into the dining area, you'll find our Charlie Brown-style Christmas tree! This little spruce came from IKEA, and I just wrapped the pot in kraft paper. It doubles as a centerpiece for our farmhouse table - gotta love decor that multitasks in a small home :).

I snagged the felted wool ball wreath that's around the base of the tree from West Elm last year for a song in their after-Christmas sale.

My husband loves the vintage roadrunner glasses in the photo below. They're the perfect vessel for an festive Christmas drink (Old Fashioned anyone?).

To wrap things up, here's a full room view of our little living and dining areas. I hope you enjoyed the tour of our little Philly row house! If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Parade of Homes {The Highlights}

Did y'all enjoy the Spring Parade of Homes that was hosted by Thrifty and Chic last week? I had fun putting my own home tour together, but I really loved seeing the homes of the 13 other bloggers who were participating. So I thought I'd put together a little "highlight reel" of two my favorite shots from each of these ladies' tours. Each one is so different! If you like what you see (or if you missed any of these last week), please head over to the full tour to see more.

Thrifty and Chic

I love Alicia's light and bright style. It almost feels like you're walking onto a cloud in her home.

Lovely Etc.

Carrie has a great eye for where to add doses of color to her home. I mean, just look at that fun plank wall!

Making Home Base

Chelsea has done an amazing job taking her military base housing from basic to beautiful. You would have no idea her home is "standard issue" when you look through the photos.

The Happy Housie

Krista's home has a "come on in and make yourself at home!" attitude. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is pulled together so well.

House By Hoff

I love April's shabby chic style that mixes old and new. She's got a thing for repurposing old windows and doors, which is really fun!

The Blissful Bee

Amy's definitely got a great gift when it comes to styling vignettes. Her home tour is full of pretty little spring moments.

Bigger Than the Three of Us

I think Ashley and I have pretty similar styles when it comes to home decor, but she's got a little more of a mid-century vibe (which must say I love!).

Cuckoo 4 Design

If you're in the mood for vibrant color and eclectic mixes of pattern, Julia's your girl. I love her adventurous tastes!

Just A Girl and Her Blog

Abby outdid herself with her spring decor! It all looks so fresh and inviting right alongside her already beautifully decorated home.

Rain On A Tin Roof

Like Julia, Jenna's not one to shy away from color and pattern in her home. In fact, she's totally comfortable being bold with both in the same room! You go girl.

An Inviting Home

Sarah's home is just like the name of her blog implies - it's inviting. It makes you immediately comfortable, which isn't easy to do!

Primitive and Proper

Cassie isn't afraid to take a chance or two when it comes to decorating her home. Whether it's painting her fireplace bricks black or being bold with bright color in her kids' rooms, she got a great eye for design!

Place of My Taste

Lastly, Aniko's home is like a breath of fresh air. It's light, airy and easy-going - three of my favorite qualities for homes!

I hope y'all enjoyed the Spring Parade of Homes. It sure was a fun thing to be a part of for me - it marks the close of the chapter of our lives in DC. Off to the next adventure in Philadelphia this summer!
