Victorian Goth Table Makeover

There is an apartment complex a few blocks away from where I live and every week someone is moving in or out.  Luckily for me it's an endless source of furniture for my makeover projects!  This table was pretty boring when I found it and with just a little paint and some vintage printouts, I was able to turn it into something marvelous!  It doesn't take much to turn trash into treasure, my talented friends!  Now get out there and MAKE YOUR MARK!
The sweetest little side table!
My ode to Victorian Goth...Cabbage roses mixed with black...Perfect!

Drippy Paint Thrift Store Table Makeover

This table was sooooo ugly that I actually felt bad for it!  It reminded me of something you might see in Ceasar's Palace in Vegas, so I bought for 10 bucks and it sat in my work space for a solid month before I tackled it.  What the hell, it was time for a challenge!  Even though this didn't end up as part of my decor, a good friend snagged it for her art studio and she loves it.  As far as I'm concerned, that is a success story!  Try to tackle something that makes you feel creatively challenged every once in a while because you never know what you'll learn.  Oh, and don't forget to Make Your Mark!
My drippy paint experiment
I love how the colors blend into each other!

Watch how I did it here!

Sponges
Spray Bottles
Americana Decor Crème Wax & Light Satin Varnish
Americana Decor Metallics in Antique Brass (my fave)

6. - 8.  Mix Renaissance chalky finish with water in a spray bottle and spray the top of the legs allowing the paint to drip down over the Bestow
*Use a brush toward the top to blend it a bit and expose the gold

Antique Mirror DIY

Why just have a plain full length mirror when you can have one that looks like an antique?  A little wood trim and some air-dry clay and you can have your very own hall of mirrors!  I grabbed my trim at Home Depot...They have tons to choose from and it's not very expensive at all.  Make 3 of these and you have an entire wall that doubles the size of your room.  Remember to reinvent your every day items and always Make Your Mark!
It's all in the details!

Seeing double
STUFF I USED
Wood trim
Full length mirror
Putty knife
HERE'S HOW
1. & 2. Measure 2 pieces of wood trim for the inside length of the mirror and cut to size
3. & 4.   Measure the 1/2" thick wood boards to fit inside the top (between the trim), measure and cut
5.  Measure decorative wood trim to flank the sides of the 1/2" wood board
6.  Dust a silicone mold with cornstarch
7. & 8.  Fill the mold with an air hardening clay and wriggle out of the mold to dry
9.  Glue the wood pieces directly on top of the full length mirror
10.  Glue the dried clay pieces on the wood
11.  Paint the entire mirror with the chalky finish
12.  Dry brush all of the details with metallic gold
Done!

It's a mirror-acle!

Make a Room Divider

I've been wanting to make this project for a year, but after discovering that new closet doors cost more than I wanted to spend, I put the project on hold.  As luck would have it, I spotted a set of almost new doors at a garage sale a month later for $20 and my new room divider project was back on the to-do list.  If you want to add some impact to a room without painting an entire wall OR if you want to separate a large space, this project is for you!  Heck, if you want to hide a pile of dirty clothes in style, you might consider making this! When you're tired of it, you can easily fold it up or move it somewhere else. Remember to check out garage sales, paint everything and always Make Your Mark!
So chic!

Watch the video here!
STUFF I USED
Set of closet doors
Americana Decor Metallics in Champagne
Americana Decor Fleur Medallion Stencil

3. & 4.  Dab a crumpled plastic bag in the Estate and stamp it on the doors
5. Stencil your pattern with the Fleur Medallion stencil using a cosmetic sponge
6.  Repeat your stencil until you're happy with the design

Storage Trunk Makeover DIY

When I went away to college my parents got me this inexpensive black trunk for all of my clothes.  It was made of hard cardboard and had brass findings all over it and it was the perfect storage/side table.  Recently I saw an amazing vintage trunk at an estate sale (but it was $400) and I immediately thought of how I could get the same look with my basic black storage trunk.  I'm a color addict and love the turquoise, but you could truly paint it any color you want and get the same results.  I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paints and a wax technique for this project...... and I love the way it looks!  I hope you do, too.

Weathered Wood Bangles DIY

I love the look of painted, aged and weathered wood and thought it might be fun to try to get the same effect on wood bangles.  It was easier than I thought and I have to say, I had a blast making these!  As you can see, I made 5 of them and I still wanted to paint more.  This is a terrific technique for furniture, too.  I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish paints (beautiful colors, BTW) and regular household wax.  You could even use a candle if you wanted.  Have fun!
