It is almost time for Pinny's cone to come off so this will probably we the last Pinny in a cone photo. This sweet kitty must know I love catching cat yawns because she is always good for at least one when I pull out my camera. In this one I imagine her yelling, "Get this cone off of me now!".
Have a great weekend!

Cats :: One of these is not mine
Pinny is on recovery today from her surgery and is doing very well. Right now she is snoozing beside me with her little cone on. I am sad to say that Farva and Anakin are being horrible big brothers to Pinny; hissing and smacking her when she walks by. Those boys need some manners. Really they just don't like the smell of the vet that Pinny brought back with her.
But enough about my cats! I want to show you Ivan's brother's cute little kitten Bella. I really with I had taken some photos of Bella when he first brought her home but it is always dark by the time we get there for dinner. She was the teensiest little kitten! Here are a few photos from Christmas.
I love how black cats always have a little tuft of white fur somewhere. It is adorable.
So my thrift trip yesterday was a total bust. It has actually been a while since I have ventured out to the thrift stores and yesterday was a horrible way to return to it. Maybe it is because Christmas just finished, but the store I went to was bare! Oh well, at least I dropped off my donations and didn't replace them with all new things.
Today I am continuing to empty my office and get it ready for some rearranging while dealing with the stuffiest, drippiest nose ever. I don't feel like I have a cold but my nose is constantly getting plugged. Gross!
Have a good Thursday!

Photos :: Anakin
The other day I caught Anakin laying like this and I thought he looked so adorable. As you may remember, Anakin is quite the diva about having his photo taken so I had to pull out my camera very quietly and snap this shot before he caught me.
He caught me! Anakin must have been pretty sleepy though because he didn't get up and leave because I took his photo without permission.
I mentioned a while back that Anakin wasn't doing too great but I'm happy to report that he is doing much better. We changed his food and not only did that solve the original problem he was having, it seems to have made him more social. Anakin used to follow me around all day and he is kind of back to doing that again. I love it.
Right now I am completely surrounded by kitties. Farva on my left, Anakin behind me and Pinny on my right. Life with cats is pretty great. Have a fantastic day!

Photos :: Hutch
Remember our pretty hutch that I papered the back of and filled with cameras and other pretty things? Well, as I mentioned we had to move it to a temporary location to make room for the piano. I'm hoping for it to end up in my office (which I am overhauling) but for now it is conveniently blocking our book case in the spare bedroom.
When we first moved it and it was all empty we decided that Farva and Princess should be displayed in it for a few minutes. We put them in and they had a bit of fun trying to swat at each other from the different levels. They must have really liked it in there because the other day when I opened the hutch doors for a minute they booth scooted inside again!

A lot of the time, instead of jumping up to where she needs to be, Pinny will kind of hang and try to climb or pull herself up. She is such a little monkey! It didn't work well on the hutch so I gave her a hand.
See my little Fur Balls hanging out in there? That is their temporary home while my office is under construction (translation: such a mess that I can't walk through it).
Yesterday I helped my Dad out with a curtain sewing/altering project that worked out better than we could have imagined. Everything went so smoothly and we used parts that we cut off for other things so really nothing got wasted. It was very exciting and if I had have known it would be so exciting I would have taken photos to share. Telling you this is not really relevant to anything, I'm just still kind of pumped about it.
Have a great day!

Photos :: Cat Fun House
Yesterday Ivan made the best cat toy ever: a box with a little doorway cut into it.
Farva was the first one to explore it (immediately after it was placed on the ground), followed closely by Pinny. A little while later Ivan added "Cat Fun House" to the box to be sure that they knew exactly what it was.Holy smokes it snowed quite a bit here yesterday! I wasn't really ready for snow but it does look pretty. We have a very busy Saturday so I'm off to get started. Have a good weekend!

Photos :: Cats

Last weekend I mentioned that we took Anakin to the vet. Everything seems to be ok but I have to give him pills and although he is the most timid of all of our cats he is the worst to give pills to. He squirms and I feel like I am going to break him. Poor guy!
This week Pinny decided that she likes to sit on the TV stand and watch TV with her face right up against it. Sometimes she tries to paw things on the screen. It is really cute.
Happy Saturday everyone!

photos :: cats
No big deal, just some cute kittes.
That last photos shows how pretty Pinny's brown eyes are.
Today we are taking our unpictured kitty, Anakin, to the vet. Something is up with our poor little guy and I hope that everything is fine. Send healthy kitty wishes.

cats :: guess what Pinny can do?
In the last few weeks I have learned something completely awesome about our newest kitty. She plays fetch! Pretty often I will throw her toys so that she can chase them down but one day I noticed that she kept bringing them back and dropping them in front of me. Sometimes, if you hold your hand out she will even drop it right into your hand.
I will need to get a video of this cuteness one day but for now you will just have to take my word for it. She is a super adorable genius.

Cats :: Farva Shakes a Paw
Well, kind of. I'm trying to teach Farva how to shake a paw because he is a super genius and I need to make use of his incredible brain power by harnessing it into his adorable little paw.
Sometimes he will do it without me tapping his paw to get him started but that might be because he is trying to swat my hair. Either way, it's really cute.
Happy Saturday!

Photos :: Kitty Lounging
I know that nothing can be as cute as last weeks photos of Princess Log Lady but I just love posting a few little cat photos on Saturdays. It's a good start to my weekend.
I was taking photos of Pinny (that's what I've been calling Princess Log Lady) lounging on the couch and then I tried to take a few of Farva. He was not super into it and kept looking away. I think he was jealous that his little sister was getting too much attention. Don't worry Farva, you're still the cutest black and white cat in the house!
I hope everyone has a great day!

Cats :: Happy Birthday Anakin
Today is Anakin's birthday. So why do I have a photo of Farva wishing Anakin a happy birthday instead of a photo of Anakin? Well, because Mr. Birthday Boy is a diva and he refused to pose for photos this past week. I kept trying to sneak one of him but anytime I pulled out the camera he went and hid. What a brat! Since it's his birthday (and he's turning 6! what an old man) I let Anakin off the hook and let his brother (the ham) wish him a happy birthday.
So happy birthday Anakin! I promise you will get lots of snuggles and treats...and no photos taken of you.

Today I have a ton to do so I'm off to get started on it. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Projects :: Chevron Blanket...Twin Peaks Style
Along with the granny square blanket that I will be forever working on, I started another crochet afghan project.

This is from my ripple crochet book that I found at the thrift store quite awhile ago. I have been wanting to make another ripple afghan since I finished my last one and now was the perfect time to start this guy.

And, it never hurts to have a little helper.

I worked on this a bit on the way to Chicago and then almost the entire way home. It still has a ways to go but I have given myself a deadline so it will be finished soon.
Oh yeah, and I call this the Twin Peaks blanket because black and white chevron pattern means only one thing to me...the black lodge and Twin Peaks.

Cats :: Lounging
This week Princess and Anakin were playing really well together. They would chase each other and it wouldn't end in fighting like when Farva and Anakin chase each other.

Farva turned into a pretty big grump about his little sister this week. He usually meows in a very grumpy way if she tries to play with him and he will smack her sometimes kind of for no reason. I love Farva but I think he is a bit of a bully.

He is still a bit unsure of her but Princess is really persistent about being friends so I'm sure that Farva will come around eventually.

Today we are on our way to Renegade and I'm equal parts excited and nervous. Talk to you soon!

Cats :: Brothers and Sister
The brothers and sister are getting along a little better now. At first it was Farva who was being a little more friendly to Princess but now he seems to be a little annoyed with her playfulness. It doesn't make sense because Farva is really playful himself. I try to remind him that he was an annoying little brother to Anakin once but Farva is stubborn and sometimes he doesn't listen very well. Also, he's a cat and I'm pretty sure he usually doesn't understand what the heck I'm saying. Usually.

Anakin avoided Princess for the first few days so he was still hissing and growling for a couple days after Farva had stopped. Now he is being pretty nice. Neither one of them like it when she attacks their tails though.

So there are some cute kitties for your Saturday. Ivan and I are off to a wedding so I'll talk to you later!

And her name is...

Ivan and I finally gave our new little fur baby a name. I would like to formally introduce you to Princess Log Lady.
We were really leaning towards a Twin Peaks inspired name because we are kind of obsessed. On our way home from Erie I suggested The Log Lady and it made us laugh the most out of all the names we thought of. We didn't settle on it right away and then I started calling her Princess when she was nameless. Ivan and I decided to keep the 'Princess', drop the 'the' and we settled on Princess Log Lady.
Mostly I call her Loggie or Princess or Mrs. or Baby. Come on it's my first girl kitty, I'm taking advantage of all the silly girly names! Ivan's current favourite thing to call her is Poopie Pants...I'm assuming because she farted in the Photobooth and Ivan thought she was pooping. We have also discussed throwing Margaret into the mix of names (that's the log lady's real name). She is going to be one confused kitten.
Good news though! Farva is being much nicer to our new baby and Anakin is getting there, although a bit slower. Farva has even given her a few kisses here and there. Yesterday we took Loggie and Farva outside on leashes together and they loved it. I think they will be best friends soon.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

PS. Kaylah, I know you will forever call her Quarters and I'm ok with that.
Double PS. Happy birthday Chantilly!!!!

Cats :: Introducing...
No, it's not Anakin. Ivan and I are pleased to present the newest member of our family, little miss yet to be named!
I have been wanting to add a third kitty to the party for so long now but Ivan was not really into the idea (he is what stands between me and crazy cat lady status) so I dropped it. I had mostly given up on another fur baby until this weekend when I saw Ivan fall in love with a sweet little baby Anakin look alike at a pet store in Erie. I really prefer to bring home cats from shelters (Anakin and Farva were both rescues) so please no judgment on buying a pet store kitten. When it's love, it's love!
After camping, Kaylah, Kevin, Ivan and I made our way to Erie for our usual baked tofu sandwiches, junk shopping and visit to the photobooth. When we made it to the photobooth portion of our journey there was a cleaning man standing in front of it with his big gargabe container so we took a detour to the pet store.
I saw this cute little orange kitty right away and went and stuck my fingers and face up to the cage. She started pawing and meowing and I fell in love. I fall in love with cats pretty easily though so this is not really breaking news. The difference with this little kitten is that Ivan came over and stuck his fingers and face up to the cage and I could totally tell by the look on his face that he loved this kitty too. Ivan is definitely a cat lover (he was before I was) but he is not usually that interested in cats we run into at pet stores. That's how I knew that there was a chance we would be taking this little girl home. That, and when I asked Ivan if we had seen this kitty in Canada would we get her he said, "Mayyybe" in a way that totally means yes because usually Ivan's answer when we talk about another cat is absolutely not.
We walked away to look at the other animals and somewhere in there I had Kaylah look up on her phone the deal with buying animals in the States and taking them into Canada. I always thought it was not an option but apparently it is pretty common and no trouble at all. Well...the rest is pretty obvious. We took this litttle girl out of the cage, played around and finally Ivan said I had to make the final decision which he obviously knew would be yes.
So, that's the story of how we went camping and came home with an American cat. She totally has an accent when she meows. I really didn't think I would ever buy a cat at a pet store, or in America, or get one that looks almost exactly like Anakin but you can't help who you fall in love with.
There is still a bunch of hissing and growling going on over here which stresses me out a lot but I'm hoping that all the kitties will be best friends soon. I will keep everyone updated on our new princess and let you know what the heck we end up naming her. I was so unprepared for this!
