Cavalcade of Authors West

It's been a week and a half since I've been back from this fabulous event, but I have so much going on in May, I haven't posted about it yet. Shame on me! So here's a quick rundown.

First of all, Cavalcade of Authors has been an annual event in the Tri-cities, Washington for a while now. I went a few years ago, and had a really great time, and met SUCH wonderful people, I was ready to move there. I kid you not. But my husband has a pretty good job here and my kids don't want to move, so you know, we didn't do that. But I loved my time there!

When a group of librarians and parents decided to bring a similar event to the west side of Washington this year, they asked if I might like to participate as an author and of course I said YES!

Junior and senior high kids sign up to attend three workshops put on by authors in the morning. Doesn't that sound amazing? I mean, honestly, I kind of want to go next year and be a student and go to three of the sessions!

The authors also took turns doing panels where we answered questions from the audience. Here I am with my panel: Marissa Meyer (THE LUNAR CHRONICLES),  Richelle Mead, (VAMPIRE ACADEMY) and Terry Trueman (STUCK IN NEUTRAL). Can you believe that? I was like looking around me going, dang, is this really my life???

I didn't take many pictures - but here's another one with my good bud Kim Derting (THE BODY FINDER, THE TAKING, etc.)

After lunch, the kids are able to buy books and t-shirts and get them signed by the authors.

If you ever get a chance to go one of these Cavalcade of Author events, you should totally go! It's a great, great time!

Did you know...

Quick post today because my to-do list is a mile long. Okay, not really. It just feels that way. At the top of the list are clean the bathroom and work on a synopsis. Ugh, happy Monday to me.

A few things to tell you about.

Did you know...

there is a wonderful discussion guide for Caitlin's Lucky Charm, the first book in the CHARMED LIFE series? Scholastic has put it together, so if you are in a book club or are a teacher/librarian at school, please do check it out. HERE is the link. There's even a recipe for Snickerdoodle cookies - yum!!

that I will be at the Vegas Valley Book Festival in two weeks, on Saturday, October 18th? I'll be on the Tweens Read panel at 1:00 and the More Than a Love Story panel at 2:00. If you're in the area, I'll hope you'll come see me!

I will be doing a newsletter 3-4 times a year? I'm calling it a quarterly newsletter, but I may not do it exactly four times a year. Anyway, it's the best way to stay up-to-date with book releases, appearances, etc. plus I'll be giving sneak peeks you won't get anywhere else AND will be doing special giveaways that are only for subscribers. The first issue will be going out SOON, so sign up HERE if you want to be in on that.

Okay, that's all I've got for today. Have a great week!

Celebrating Teen Read Week with Longview Public Library

Next Tuesday, October 15, 2013 I will be at the Longview Public Library in Longview, Washington to celebrate Teen Read Week. The event is from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

The first ten teens receive a free copy of my most recent YA novel, FALLING FOR YOU, which is really cool, so if you're in the area, I hope you'll come and get there early! I'll be doing a short, inspirational talk, answering questions, and signing books and bookmarks.

I love libraries and I love reading and teens, so I'm thrilled and honored to be a part of their celebration.
