In 1976, almost 50 years after the founding of GPC, we took a giant leap forward by expanding into industrial distribution parts with the acquisition of Motion. Motion was created in 1946 when Owen-Richards Company was purchased by Caldwell Marks and William Spencer in Birmingham, Alabama. Today, Motion is a leading distributor of industrial parts and services across North America and Asia Pacific with over 700 locations, 30 distribution centers and over $8 billion in sales in 2023.
