Honoured to have hosted the Deputy Director of Agriculture at a workshop aimed at promoting awareness about the institutionalization of ZAMGAP, a pioneering local standard for safe food production. This initiative ensures that farmers produce fruits and vegetables that are safe for consumption. Solidaridad, through our #ReclaimSustainability! programme, has been a key partner to the Zambian Bureau of Standards in developing this crucial standard since its inception in 2021 and will continue to support the nationwide promotion and rollout of the standard.

There’s a growing interest in leveraging value chains to engage smallholder farmers, with the idea that integrating their production into markets can bring significant income and employment benefits. However, smallholders often face challenges such as limited resources, knowledge, and bargaining power, which hinder their ability to participate equally.
