🤝 Teaming up to promote sustainable, low-carbon agriculture in Florencia, Colombia in the department of Caqueta! Solidaridad Network joined Earth Innovation Institute to present Caqueta’s Low-Emission Rural Development Strategy to the Secretariat of Environment and Rural Development in the municipality of Florencia. By strengthening collaboration, we can help get the plan off the ground at the municipal level. 🧐 What’s it all about? 💡 The Municipal Development Plan defines important actions for climate change management that align with the overall strategy, such as implementing Payments for Environmental Services (PES) and support service for value chains. 🧩 A departmental platform called Caquetá Sustentable will highlight the innovative and progressive actions taken in Florencia with support from the team at Earth Innovation Institute. 🌱 The Municipality of Florencia will identify incentives to promote sustainable practices. ⭐ Capacity building in sustainable finance for the Secretariat team, along with the leadership of Solidaridad to support the team through training workshops. Working together is part of our joint effort in Amazonia Connect to create a prosperous and resilient future in Caqueta. Amazonia Connect is an initiative of USAID, Solidaridad Network, Earth Innovation Institute, National Wildlife Federation, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 🗒 A new survey of over 75K people 🙋♂️ 🙋♀️ across 77 countries by UNDP shows that 80% want their governments to take urgent #ClimateAction. The results are similar to what Solidaridad found in our study with 10K small-scale farmers across 18 countries in our #SmallFarmerAtlas (www.smallfarmeratlas.info). "The biggest issues we are facing are related to climate change. The monsoon rains used to arrive on time. Farmers could sow the crops on time and the temperature used to be comfortable. But today, the situation is much different,” said Ramesh, a small-scale soy farmer. "As farmers, we are entirely dependent on nature."
