Hydrogen needs to play to its strength. That’s the key message SLB shared with Hydrogen Economist as we continue to make huge strides in developing low-carbon hydrogen production technologies to decarbonize the industrial sector. These technologies are needed to drive down costs. They’re also needed to accelerate the development of low-carbon hydrogen technologies at scale as industrial processes demand a consistent supply of hydrogen. Read more here: https://bit.ly/4cjgoE2

To protect one of the world’s most precious resources, we’re measuring, reducing, and replenishing water resources across our communities, operations, and facilities. From rainwater harvesting to water recycling and treatment, our initiatives are making a significant impact worldwide. Last year, through our Sustainability Impact Awards program, we reduced our global water usage by 3%, saving the equivalent of almost 40 Olympic swimming pools! Turns out the world will have a surplus of lithium in the near term, International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates show. Why? Because we're efficiently tackling the challenge of leveraging existing supplies to meet tomorrow's demand. New tech and approaches are improving our ability to sustainably produce battery-grade lithium by: 🔵 better understanding brine composition 🔵 optimizing lithium for premium pricing 🔵 accelerating time-to-market (visualized below). Sharad Dubey does a wonderful job of explaining the current and future state of this critical mineral here: https://lnkd.in/eXkS6w3y

Did you know that North America’s pulp and paper industry represents a #CarbonRemoval opportunity of up to 130 million tonnes per year? We're excited to tackle this challenge and today announced that our SLB and Aker Carbon Capture Joint Venture (SLB-ACC JV) has been awarded a contract by its partner CO280 Solutions for front end engineering and design (FEED) of a large-scale #CarbonCapture plant at a pulp and paper mill on the U.S. Gulf Coast. “This contract represents a key milestone in our partnership with CO280 to deliver large-scale carbon capture solutions for the North American industry,” said Egil A. Fagerland, chief executive officer, SLB-ACC JV. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with CO280 and their pulp and paper partner to prepare for a full-scale carbon capture plant through the FEED.” Read the full news release here: https://lnkd.in/gD6ipBtw

This may be the best analogy we've heard for why continuous methane monitoring is the way of the future: "Conventional and periodic survey-type methods of monitoring methane emissions from oil and gas facilities (whether that’s handhelds, drones, or satellites) are like asking the fire brigade to occasionally drive past your house and check if it’s on fire. Continuous monitoring is more like the smoke detector on the ceiling; it’s always there, just in case." Is this the fastest tech rollout in energy? Director Ravi Peddibhotla explores: https://lnkd.in/g746xGKa
