It all started with a Slack DM! 📲 Hue. began because I join the same Zoom call as Janvi Shah by chance. Sparks flew & we quickly started “founder dating.” ✨ On our first coffee date ☕, Janvi shared her vision for what would soon become Hue and I was hooked. Thankfully, we met the third pea in our pod, Sylvan Guo, who was just another Zoom call away, and the rest is history. 👩👧👧💜 Armed with sticky notes, we brainstormed problems that marketers faced in beauty industry and created an endless list of possible solutions! Candidly some were better than others (one sticky note said “3D print skin to find shade”. 😅 But we realized that there is a need for #personalization, #videoshopping and #socialproof in the shopping journey and that beauty brands and their customers would both benefit. I recently shared this story with Forbes and discussed the lessons I’ve learned as I transitioned from big beauty (L'Oréal) to starting a tech company. Thank you to Google for Startups for funding our venture and those of other Black founders. We hope funding for black and women founders continue so that others can launch innovative ideas and find their their own “peas in a pod”! Thank you Asia N.
