About us
OpenStack is an open source software project Hosted by the OpenInfra Foundation for creating private and public clouds. Over 300 OpenStack-powered public cloud data centers and thousands of private clouds at a scale of more than 40 million physical cores span the world. Since launching in 2010, OpenStack has become one of the top four most active open source projects. What OpenStack software does: OpenStack is an open source cloud platform that provides APIs to orchestrate bare metal, virtual machine and container resources on a single network. The same OpenStack code powers a global network of public and private clouds, backed by the largest ecosystem of technology providers, to enable cost savings, control and portability. Learn more at http://www.openstack.org/software. Why open matters: All of the code for OpenStack is freely available under the Apache 2.0 license. Anyone can run it, build on it, or submit changes back to the project. We strongly believe that an open development model is the only way to foster badly-needed cloud standards, remove the fear of proprietary lock-in for cloud customers, and create a large ecosystem that spans cloud providers. OpenStack Users: OpenStack has thousands of users worldwide across industries including financial services, telecom, retail, manufacturing, internet and ecommerce companies. Find OpenStack user stories at http://www.openstack.org/users. For more information and to join the community, visit www.OpenStack.org/join and join the conversation in our OpenStack LinkedIn Group. Join us at events: Each year, the OpenInfra Foundation and community members around the world host global Summits and regional events to help support and grow the community.

Duane is right! Not only is Bloomberg a Gold Member of the OpenInfra Foundation, but they're doing amazing work on all kinds of open source projects, including OpenStack. Plus, they're all super nice people that know their stuff. If you're looking for a job in open source, you couldn't do better :)
Great role in a great org.

https://rb.gy/c0usg5 "Nearly 2,000 people attended the first Asian summit "In terms of users, Hyundai Motor introduced its own application in the Internet of Vehicles, and built five global centers, all built on OpenStack. The Internet of Vehicles has played a role in responding to rapid user growth and high-quality user membership services. This case describes the practices in high availability, monitoring, automated operations, and large bandwidth. The benefits are obvious: downtime is reduced, service response time is shortened, and service quality is improved." "Mark Collier made a brief summary of OpenStack, using numbers to show that it has 110,000 community members, 600,000 CODE changes, more than 10,000 contributors, and hundreds of organizations.. Open source software is worth $8.8 trillion, growing from $22.8B in 2024 to $91.44B in 2029. Many large European companies, as well as Google and Amazon, run on public clouds. There are also many large companies running on private clouds, etc. After praising the power of open source (actually praising the community and foundation), he changed the subject and said that we are currently facing four major challenges. 1. Digital sovereignty : focuses on where data is located, who has access to it, and what laws apply; related to the RISC-V architecture, around which the European Union’s technological sovereignty strategy revolves. 2. License change: HashiCorp's change to Terraform's open source license has caused strong opposition. More than 80% of OpenInfra members' customers have asked how to migrate from VMware to OpenStack, and more than 60% of members have completed the migration from VMware to OpenStack-based products for their customers. 3. Security issues: 87% of container images in production have serious or high-severity vulnerabilities. Microsoft and NVIDIA use OpenInfra Kata containers to enhance security. 4. AI redefines cloud data center infrastructure : 96% plan to expand AI computing power, but face challenges in availability, cost, and infrastructure. The demand for data centers has increased significantly, with the data created in the past three years exceeding the total in history and reaching 180 Z bytes by 2025. The fastest supercomputer in the UK and one of the world's top ten GPU buyers both run on OpenStack. Open source AI solutions and model customization are top priorities, with 96% of companies focusing on customizing major open source models. According to Mark, in the future, new hardware and new software will be needed to manage the hardware , focusing on core alliances, more open software and infrastructure, and coordinating upstream work. This is more like a methodology and guiding ideology. How to implement it is probably still a difficult problem. A typical example is that there are so many xPUs and large models now. Will they all be within the scope of OpenInfra in the future?"

Red Hat participated in the first ever OpenInfra Summit Asia + OCP Regional Summit APAC held in South Korea. Sean Cohen, Director, Product Management, Red Hat, took a session showcasing how Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift (RHOSO) can reduce time-to-market and risk, improve resource management and scalability, and offer unified observability across the hybrid cloud. The process of deploying RHOSO while harnessing the full capabilities of Ansible was introduced at a hands-on lab session, too. Hello everyone :) I am very glad to have the opportunity to attend OpenInfra Summit Asia. Lots of interesting and useful presentations. I talked a lot about OpenStack with other highly qualified specialists. I found a solution to some problems that appeared when operating a private cloud based on OpenStack for this I thank the guys from Mirantis :) Many thanks for organizing the event to the OpenInfra Foundation and OpenInfra Asia. First time at this conference, but I hope not the last :)

“Quite discreetly, the OpenInfra Foundation and the open-source projects it promotes (such as OpenStack, and the Kata Containers, virtual machines (VM) as containers) are changing the world. As Younghold Han, Hyundai's VP of car cloud, said in an interview, "There are several reasons why we are using an OpenStack private cloud, hCloud. First, there's data security. Let's remember that a few weeks ago, Azure had a major security failure. We want to control our security. And finally, there's cost. So before Hyundai, I worked in Samsung's mobile business unit. We launched multiple services for our users that ran on AWS, and you cannot imagine how the costs grew exponentially. So we built out our private cloud." Samsung and Hyundai aren't the only ones moving to private clouds. Michael Dell, Dell CEO, quoted Barclay's CIO Survey 2024: "83% of enterprises plan to move workloads back to private cloud from public cloud." … Now seven years old, Kata is gaining traction, particularly for securing AI workloads. Kata isn't gaining users just in the OpenStack space. Microsoft Azure is deploying Kata Containers for its confidential computing service, while AWS is talking about large-scale Kata deployment. Moreover, Nvidia is using Kata Containers to secure AI workloads, highlighting its importance in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence.” Steven Vaughan-Nichols
