About us

Work that matters, fueled by passion for pets! At Hill’s we have a purpose. Every day around the world, we transform the lives of millions of pet families through pioneering innovation, science-led nutrition and the best and brightest people. Did you know that the work we do today was originally inspired by Buddy, a guide dog who was suffering from kidney failure in the late 1930s? Dr. Mark Morris Sr. believed the illness was a result of poor nutrition, so he developed a new pet food to help Buddy live a longer, healthier life. That pet food was the forerunner of Hill’s Prescription Diet® k/d® Canine. Dr. Morris was a caring veterinarian, a visionary for clinical nutrition and the founder of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. We are proud to carry on his tradition of caring and his commitment to transforming lives through the highest-quality pet nutrition available. In fact, our mission is “to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.” Hill's® Science Diet®, Prescription Diet® and Ideal Balance® brand pet foods are sold in more than 86 countries, with total annual sales of more than $2 billion. We share our core values of Caring, Global Teamwork and Continuous Improvement with our parent company, Colgate-Palmolive. Our support to homeless pets and shelters is a living, breathing example of our values, and we are an industry leader in providing pet food to shelter animals around the world. Our Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has donated more than $300 million worth of food to shelters and has helped more than 12 million pets find their forever home! 🐶 Today, on International Dog Day, we want to pose a question. ❓ Why are adoptions for large dogs lagging, with their length of stay in shelters increasing by 100% over the past five years? 🚫 We dig into barriers like cost, housing restrictions and more, as well as share data on which generation is MOST LIKELY to be key in increasing adoption of large dogs in our new Hill's State of Shelter Pet Adoption Report. 🔎 https://lnkd.in/gGBxpDwQ 🤝 Together, we hope to use data and collaboration to help improve outcomes for large dogs!

Meet Quigley! Quigley was born with a vision defect and was set to be euthanized, but fortunately, he was rescued by a nonprofit group specializing in animals with special needs. Quigley was in foster care for four months and was adopted by Nick Pierce, our Director of Manufacturing at our Washington Court, Ohio, plant and his family in September of 2023. In October 2023, Quigley had corrective eye surgery on both eyes. He turned one in April of this year and is living his best life with four human siblings...and of course, Quigley is now a Hill's dog! We love showing off our employee pets, so let's hear it for Quigley!

At Hill’s Pet Nutrition, we believe in the transformative power of education and its role in advancing the veterinary profession. That’s why we’ve been committed to ensuring that veterinary students receive comprehensive education in pet nutrition—because we know how crucial it is for the overall health and well-being of pets. We’re incredibly proud of our long-standing partnership with Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, which has been instrumental in providing hands-on nutrition education to veterinary students. We’re thrilled to announce our $1 million investment in the creation of the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Clinical Nutrition Professorship at K-State. This endowed position will support the appointment of a distinguished faculty member to teach critical small animal nutrition courses and conduct innovative research in the field. We’re excited to see the positive impact this will have on the future of veterinary medicine and the health of pets for years to come. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gCi4wJrW
