Both Mars Horizon and the upcoming sequel Mars Horizon 2: The Search for Life are part of the Steam Space Exploration Fest that's running this week.   To celebrate, we have just released a new Mars Horizon 2 trailer where the spotlight is on the development team. They discuss their excitement for the game, the team's approach to development, and more!  Our team work incredibly hard behind the scenes so we saw this trailer as a chance to put some of them in front of the camera to allow their passion for the project, as well as their knowledge and expertise, shine. Our Marketing team are always looking for opportunities to allow our devs to speak to our community as this is a positive experience for both our devs and our players, who love hearing from the people behind the scenes. In this trailer we have John O'Donnell, Chris Watt, and Siddharth Mishra, and they wrote their own scripts for this trailer, with support from our marketing team.    We are really proud of this trailer, as well as Mars Horizon 2, so we're very excited to be able to showcase the game in our new trailer - Check it out below!   Link to the Mars Horizon 2 Steam Store page: https://lnkd.in/e3vBunZh

Fresh off the back of last week's #SonicMovie3 trailer, we spoke with Deependra dev jaishi who worked on the character and vehicle art in Team Sonic Racing as Lead Artist at Sumo India 🏎️ 💨 👇 "So many characters are being introduced from the games to the movie. Carrey's ability to contort his face into extreme expressions mirrors the exaggerated features of Dr. Eggman." 💡 Using ZBrush, Maya, and Substance 3D Painter, Deependra has experience working on many beloved Sonic characters, including Eggman himself! The art team had the extra challenge of transforming Dr. Eggman's likeness into a race car. ❓ What's Deependra's fondest memory of working with Sonic IP? "Working on characters and on amazing car designs was incredibly fun." Scroll through the images below to take a look at the sketches from the artists on the Team Sonic Racing team that show a glimpse of the development of Eggman's vehicle designs 🤯 ❓ What about the challenges of working with popular IP? "The main challenge was ensuring we maintained Sonic's legacy while making it even more exciting for players & viewers. As one of the most widely recognized and beloved characters, we couldn't afford to disappoint his fans." Make sure to tune in later on this week for one last post about Sonic the Hedgehog 3! 🦔 (the trailer will still live in our brains rent free for the rest of the year)

    • A screenshot from the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer showing actor Jim Carrey portraying Dr. Eggman - a villain from the Sonic franchise. He has a large moustache, bald head, and is smiling mischievously. On his head are some goggles and behind him is a red and black coloured background showing a circular shaped sci-fi interior.

    • Concept art from Team Sonic Racing showing some versions of Eggman's vehicle and the references used. The text on the image reads: 1. Egg Pawn - Based on the jolly faces from the Egg Pawns and Egg Mech. 3. Heavy Egg Mech - Based on the more heavier/bigger headed Mech designs.'

What a week for Shadow fans! ❤️🖤 We were super excited to see Shadow's iconic bike make a reappearance in the #SonicMovie 3 trailer! But did you know that his bike was first named in one of our games? 👇 Steve Lycett, Franchise Development Director at Sumo Sheffield and Executive Producer on SEGA Superstars Tennis, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed shared his thoughts on the #SonicMovie3 trailer. "In the original Shadow the Hedgehog game Shadow steals a G.U.N. motorcycle and you go racing down freeways. We modified this bike for All-Stars Racing - where it got named the 'Dark Rider'. The film looks to have a new design, but Shadow and bikes are synonymous." ❓ What is Steve's fondest memory of working with Sonic IP? "We were out for a meal with Sonic Team and I was describing how I still found it weird to see a game you'd made in a DVD case, years of work all nicely boxed up. Iizuka-san (head of Sonic team) laughed and called me a noob! Clearly he's shipped a LOT more games than I have!" ❓ What challenges did Steve and the team overcome while working with such a recognised IP like Sonic? "Making sure everything is accurate to the original vision of a character when making an ensemble game is hard, but rewarding. We tried to make sure we snuck in loads of little details from SEGA games old and new. "We're still approached by players calling out details and respecting the passion we had for getting the games as full of fan service as we did!" After such an epic first glimpse of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, we can't wait for December! In the meantime, why not check out those SEGA Easter eggs Steve mentioned in this #SumoRewind video featuring the man himself! 👉 https://bit.ly/3Z5bhnP

On top of this image is a 8-bit style text box with text inside that reads: "As a biker I respect how *right* that bike is! Maybe they should put it in a racing game…
    • An image of Shadow on his bike 'Dark Rider' from Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, 2010. There is text in a 8-bit style text box in the top left corner that reads: "We worked on all vehicles in both All-Stars Racing and Transformed, we designed all of them, but with guidance and approvals from the relevant SEGA IP owners. It was a lot of fun."
