Whether you're visiting St Paul's Cathedral, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, or the Northern Quarter, choose rail travel over air when travelling domestically this summer. Although airfares might appear cheaper, hidden costs such as baggage fees, seat selection, and airport transfers can significantly increase the overall expense. Additionally, air travel requires extra time for security, boarding, and transfers, often adding hours to the journey. In comparison, trains are frequently more time-efficient for many routes, offering greater service frequency and flexibility. https://lnkd.in/euubBuys Click the image to find out more ➡️ #NetZero #SustainableTravel #TrainTravel

Our revolutionary Green Travel Pledge carbon rail data now includes over 40,000 business routes (over 80,000 return business journeys) across Britain, allowing comparisons between rail emissions data for nearly every station-to-station business journey in the country. This expanded dataset incorporates factors such as train occupancy, fuel type, exact journey distance, and more, providing reliable carbon emission data for all direct rail journeys across Britain. These insights enable business travellers and businesses to understand the environmental impact of their travel and make more sustainable choices. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/eXqTbCiF A big thanks also to our project partners 3Squared Ltd, Thrust Carbon, and Black Box Partnerships as well as the ongoing support from the project stakeholders we've worked with.

Thanks for joining us and allowing us to share what we're doing to keep the railways safe for our staff.
RSO Amar Singh and RSO Howard had the pleasure of meeting Sarah Buchanan-Morgan from the Rail Delivery Group to understand how we operate across the West Midlands Trains network and was very impressed. Especially seeing a reduction in staff assaults across the network and reduced by 15% which is a fantastic result. This will be a big contribution across the network and definitely a Key Factor of how our RSOs operate the way we do. Thank you Shaun Keeling and Thomas Harty for involveing the team and supporting each other. #railway #saftey #network #railwayindustry #security #carlislesupportservices #westmidlandstrains #railwaysecurity #trains #stations #reduction #jointefforts #railwaylife #team #servicedelivery Steve Cere MSyI Paul Evans Vinny Singh Adrian White Carlisle Support Services

The Railway Engineering Graduate Scheme (REGS) for students aiming for careers in mechanical or electrical engineering, offers a fast route towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status. Rail companies, actively seek to recruit engineering graduates nationwide. Katerina shares her experience of participating in the REGS scheme. 'I participated in maintaining the 387 Electrostar and the 165 Turbostar fleets. I also had the unique opportunity to take a trip on GWR’s battery train and help out its team to the best of my abilities with some modifications. The team at the depot was very receptive and helped me by answering all of my questions about maintenance, procedures and the general depot environment. It was an amazing experience that furthered my understanding of engineering in the railway and what that looks like at its most base level'.

It's always great to see students join the industry for work experience to learn more about rail first hand.
Last Monday, Rail Delivery Group welcomed three eager students from Year 12 for an action-packed work experience week. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm and engagement as they dived into various sessions across our departments, including CEO Office, People Strategy, Operations, Engineering, Marketing and Rail Staff Travel. On the Tuesday, we joined up with Network Rail when two of their students attended alongside ours, to visit GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway), attend a train simulator, cab ride and Depot tour at Hornsey with our current Year Placement Engineer, Ashay Kumar. This diverse experience is designed to introduce students to the variety of roles in rail and provide them with a well-rounded understanding of the working Railway. Here are a few comments the students shared with us at the end of the week: ⭐️I found it interesting to see the wide range of projects that the Rail Delivery Group is involved with and found that there was a lot more to the company and the industry than at first glance. ⭐️ I found it an invaluable opportunity to see how a rail company works from the inside. ⭐️ This week’s work experience has really made me appreciate the complex variety of jobs which make up a rail company and will help me in focusing my thoughts on a possible apprenticeship application. ⭐️I just wanted to thank you from me and my family for a fantastic week’s work experience with you and the team at Rail Delivery Group. ⭐️ Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful and did everything to make my week interesting but also relaxed. Thank you so much to all who helped deliver a fantastic week, Linda Smith, Nadine Taylor, Hoa Nguyen, Maia O’Sullivan, Ian Simmonds, Steve Reynolds, Victoria Peacock, Kai Alves, Dr Emma Louise Finnegan, Raye Fullard, Matt Fitzgerald, Rupert Bickham, Rob Thorpe, Zahra Datoo, Ben Davies, Charmain Kerr, Katerina Koronou, and Deniz Vuqitrna.
