Happy #OrganicSeptember! Did you know we were the first natural source water brand to receive organic accreditation from the Soil Association for our Highland Spring catchment area, which we have held for over 20 years? The Soil Association organic symbol is the most recognised organic symbol in the UK, and Soil Association Certification certifies over 70% of food & drink on sale today. We are very proud of our organic accreditation which is a symbol of trust and underlines our mission to work with nature not against it. Pictured is our catchment wildflower meadow in full bloom which is part of this mission to protect and support nature by increasing the flora, fauna and wildlife on our land. #makingadifferenceatsource

The UK's leading producer of natural source waters.
About us
Highland Spring Group is the UK’s largest producer of natural source waters. Established in 1979, our range includes; Highland Spring and Hydr8 and we employ over 400 people at our two sites in Scotland. The mission of our business is to provide healthy hydration in an environmentally sustainable way. One of the many things that makes us special is our protected, organically accredited catchment area - stretching across over 2,500 acres of the beautiful Ochil Hills in Perthshire, Scotland, The land has nothing but nature on it and allows the rainfall to filter naturally over many years through the rock to depths of up to 300 feet before making it’s way to our bottling plant and into bottles in it’s natural source condition.

We were pleased to welcome Secretary of State for Scotland, Ian Murray to our site in Blackford, Perthshire yesterday. The Scottish Secretary met members of the leadership and manufacturing teams and was given a tour of Highland Spring production lines and new dedicated rail freight facility. In the last eight years we have invested over £60m in new buildings, plant, and equipment at the Blackford headquarters, including a state-of-the-art production line, which can fill at speeds of 73,000 bottles an hour. As the business focuses on unlocking future growth, we recently entered the 400 million litres flavoured water category, with a new Highland Spring Flavoured Still Water range supported by a £10 million investment which will provide 100 million litres of extra growth capability every year. In January 2023, our dedicated rail freight facility in Blackford, Perthshire became fully operational. 40% of the water supplied from the main bottling plant in Blackford is now transported by rail, removing 8,000 HGV movements from the roads, and saving over 3,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. This landmark project contributes to the business journey to reduce near-term carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. Scottish Secretary Ian Murray said: “It was fascinating to visit Highland Spring’s Blackford site and learn about the impressive developments and investment the company is making to grow the local economy. Not only is Highland Spring an important employer, the firm is also taking seriously its commitment to net zero targets through its rail transportation facility which cuts down road transport and the associated emissions considerably. I very much enjoyed meeting the team.” Simon Oldham, Managing Director of Highland Spring Group said: “We were pleased to welcome the Secretary of State to our site and proud to showcase the business and talented team behind our strong, iconic Highland Spring brand. As a key local employer, we are focused on making a positive socio-economic impact in Perthshire and across Scotland as part of our long-term strategy to invest in and develop innovative, high-quality, sustainable products which provide healthy hydration in an environmentally sustainable way.” Scotland Office #makingadifferenceatsource

It was great to welcome Rob McLaren from The Courier to our Blackford site recently. Our MD Simon Oldham shared how doing the right thing by our people & customers, society and the planet has been at the heart of our purpose for over 40 years. #makingadifferenceatsource
I visited Highland Spring Ltd in Perthshire to talk to managing director Simon Oldham - and what shone through was a company determined to do the right thing... Doing right by its 350 staff in Blackford who keep its production going 24 hours a day. Doing right by the environment as it takes thousands of lorry journeys off the roads with a new rail facility and plans a solar farm. Doing right by its customers by protecting the source of the water, which is extracted from boreholes after a natural filtration process lasting an average of 15 years. It is an ambitious company which plans to double in size. A £10m investment into its Perthshire factory will increase capacity by 25% as it seeks to capture part of the flavoured water market. But key to capturing more share in a competitive marketplace won't just be the investments or the product itself - but mindset. Simon says to become a bigger business Highland Spring needs to act like a challenger and keep the ability to move quickly. Marie-Louise Burman https://lnkd.in/e4zjhwXB

We have been delighted to help young people in our local community stay healthily hydrated this Summer as they take part in this fantastic initiative from St. Johnstone Community Trust ⚽️ 💧 #healthyhydration #makingadifferenceatsource
It's been fantastic to partner with Highland Spring Ltd, one of the UK's leading natural source water brands, for our 2024 Summer Holiday Camps! Check out our video 👇 The collaboration provided young players with the water they needed to stay active and healthy. Further, the partnership culminated in our coaches educating players about hydration, bringing a focus on why it is important for football players to drink water, the different sources water can come from, and how water enters and exits our body. Highland Spring's support played a crucial role in ensuring the success of our camps. By providing our young players with high-quality, natural source water, they helped us to create an optimal environment for learning and growth, particularly within our full day offerings. We were pleased to welcome the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop MSP and Transport Scotland representatives to our Blackford rail freight facility yesterday. This milestone project remains Scotland's first dedicated facility to open in over a decade and enables our business to transport goods in a sustainable way from manufacturing in Scotland to external warehousing in England. With 76% less CO2 for every tonne of freight moved by rail instead of road, rail helps us save over 3,000 tonnes of CO2 and removes over 8,000 HGV movements from the road every year. We believe this facility demonstrates what is possible for rail freight in Scotland and is a great example of collaboration and partnership working between business, government and rail stakeholders.
