It's always a fantastic night at the annual National Rail Awards, and this year was even better as we took home a win in the Environmental Excellence category for our work with Energy Garden 🏆 . There were so many brilliant projects and individuals to celebrate that it's no wonder the judging panel had a hard time deciding the winners. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day - an opportunity to start conversations and raise awareness about this important subject. Our colleagues receive vital suicide prevention training to equip them with necessary tools to handle sensitive, and sometimes life-threatening, situations. Wendy Davidson, who works for Great Northern, has been sharing her story with media, discussing what it's like to make a lifesaving intervention on the railway. Every 30 minutes someone risks their life trespassing on the railway tracks. We joined Network Rail to highlight the dangers on today's BBC 1 Morning Live show. Our Southern Rail driver, Jaymi, describes the impact that near misses, injury and death has on everyone involved - not just for the individual but the family, friends and everyone involved on the railway. You told us in our public consultation on our Southern Railway West Coastway timetable that you wanted faster trains which were more competitive against the challenging road network for east-west travel. Now, with our better timetable now in place, we’re testing just how much smoother travel can be between two popular destinations along the route - Brighton City Centre and Chichester Basin in our "West Coastway Dash." We have recently unveiled brand new artwork at Luton station, thanks to our partnership with Network Rail and local artist, Aimi Rix. The new display is made up of 15 pieces of art, covering themes including nature, the railway and local Luton landmarks, with particular emphasis on the people of Luton. Along with nine other winning entries, Maria and Aleena's poem about St Neots was selected to feature on posters across our network. ✍ Hundreds of entries were received from children aged 5 to 13 and were judged by poet and Children's Laurette, Joseph Coelho.
