Earlier this week, two students from Cardinal Newman College Aidan and Faisal completed their two week placement with our Forensic Engineering team GBB, in partnership with the Nuffield Foundation 🔬 Working with our Head of Research, Michael Hall, the students took part in a project specially designed to develop their understanding of momentum and energy transfer in a vehicle collision through practical testing and mathematical modelling. The placements were a great success and they managed to carry out five crash tests with the 1/6th model car. Well done Aidan and Faisal! #Research #Internship #NuffieldFoundation

Time for another success story! 🏆 We recently handled an Employers Liability case where an employee undertook a task they were explicitly instructed not to, then sought to sue for a hefty £250,000. We stuck to our guns, and with our client’s support, we prepared to go for a 6-day Proof (Scottish trial). The result? The claimant accepted a costs-inclusive offer with a massive 90% formal deduction for contributory negligence! Not only was this significantly less than the claimant's pre-Proof costs, but also allowed us to secure major reductions in repayable NHS charges and CRU benefits. Another great achievement for Davies' Casualty Adjuster, Kenny McClure. Well done! Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/e5xk86X4 #SuccessStory #ClaimsManagement #LegalVictory

We're no strangers to claims arising from tree root encroachment - in fact, we've been successfully defending tree root liability claims against our clients for over 20 years! In our latest case study, we take a look at some recent cases where claimants have alleged damage to property due to tree root subsidence. Our thorough investigations determined that there was no clear causation or evidence linking the damages to the insured trees, leaving the claimants no choice but to accept our denial of liability. Well done to Kelly Gill of our Casualty team for successfully defending each claim, and saving our clients tens of thousands of pounds! Did you know that 84% of workers experienced at least one mental health challenge over the past year? The commonality of mental health disorders today is largely documented, and as a society, we’re doing much better at removing the stigma attached to mental health. However, there are still many who unfortunately feel that opening up about their mental health at work is inappropriate. Our Global Responsible Business Officer, Gillie Fairbrother, takes on the topic in her latest Responsible Business blog, sharing her reflections on how businesses can take the next responsible business action to protect their colleagues at work. Subsidence related costs in the UK could soar to £1.9 billion by 2030, according to a report by PwC, and they always face a steep rise at this time of year. As we make the most of the summer warmth, it's important we know about the risks that come with this season. Last year, the top causes of subsidence claims were (ABI): 1️⃣ Root induced clay shrinkage 2️⃣ Running water from leaking drains or mains water supply pipes 3️⃣ Poor ground, infill, and consolidation issues To find out more about our subsidence and surveying expertise, get in touch now: https://lnkd.in/ec_u6H4U #Subsidence #Claims #Risk
