The future of #construction is now! 💪 And the recent International Built Environment Week (IBEW) #Singapore 2024 was a testament to that. Last month, Concrete4Change achieved a major milestone in its journey. In collaboration with GOLDBECK, the largest producer of pre-cast concrete in Europe, Concrete4Change delivered a successful trial of its ground-breaking carrier technology in cement, showcasing significant improvements in mechanical strength, all whilst permanently mineralising CO2. Concrete4Change’s technology is the only solution that can make concrete cheaper, stronger and lower emission at the same time, and we are now scaling up the technology for further trials and commercial deployment by 2026. Zacua Ventures at the Foundation Industries Workshop in London 🇬🇧 Zacua Ventures was in London on July 23rd participating in the Foundation Industries workshop and networking with investors and companies supporting Concrete4Change 🍃 ( Sid Pourfalah, Dalraj Nijjar & Michael Wise). Our Founding Partner, Juan N., attended the event and took note of the key takeaways that will impact the industry and are crucial for us to continue moving towards a greener and more sustainable future, such as: 1️⃣ The decarbonization of foundation industries (cement, steel, glass, chemicals, and ceramics) as a primary objective. 2️⃣ Collaboration as a key factor of the event that brought together a large number of entrepreneurs , startups , government officials, industry players ️, and investors . 3️⃣ Regulation as a central topic ⚖️. The event discussed the promotion and adoption of performance-based regulations for these complex and traditional industries. And of course the emergence of eco-friendly alternatives: Disruptive companies like Concrete4Change 🍃, Biozeroc ♻️, and Cambridge Electric Cement ⚡ are showing promising ways to decarbonize cement and steel ⚙️, paving the way for a more sustainable future for the industry. Last week, we hosted a delegation from our neighbours, the House of Commons, at Sustainable Ventures County Hall. We introduced colleagues from the Climate & Environment, Science & Innovation, and Business & Trade teams to leading Climate Tech innovators to discuss the opportunities for climate-focused businesses and the specific challenges of scaling in the UK and Europe. Thanks to SOLIVUS, Concrete4Change, Heat Geek, AirEx Technologies - Smart Draught Control and the founders Jo Parker-Swift, Sid Pourfalah, Joe McMullen and Aadil Qureshi for their participation and pragmatic suggestions.
