Whilst the weather is getting warmer and warmer, our teams in Scotland have been working tirelessly providing quality traffic management for the event season. Recently, Class One TM was responsible for the Event Traffic Management for a UCI cycling event in Gatehouse of Fleet called The Gralloch. The Gralloch is a 111km gravel race in Scotland which involves climbing and hiking. The route, whilst challenging, has stunning views of the Galloway Forest Park. The Gralloch is ran by Red On Sports, and the client was blown away by the team’s effort and attitude towards the works. The team was committed to keeping the public safe and making sure nothing got in the way of the big day. Malcolm Smith, Co-Founder of Red On Sports had this to say: "This is quick note to you, Brendan and the team for you support over the weekend, I very much appreciated the professionalism, can do attitude and cheerful demeanour towards the public. Today is #EarthDay2024. This year the theme is “Planet vs. Plastics”, focusing on the importance of minimising waste in order to build a more sustainable world. At Class One Traffic Management, we do what we can to reduce waste and recycle what we can. A good example of this is the disposal of old and broken computers. Over the years, Class One Traffic Management has accumulated a number of old and broken PCs and monitors which were all destined for a disposal skip. Instead, we teamed up with a local charity, Reusing IT to recycle this hardware. Once the hard drives had been removed and destroyed, Reusing IT got to work. They took our old PCs, stripped them down and rebuilt them to supply a classroom in Ukraine with the refurbished kit. This has been a win-win initiative for everyone: ✔ Class One has reduced it’s waste ✔ Reusing IT has sourced computers for use elsewhere ✔ A classroom of children in Ukraine has received a new suite of computers ✔ We’ve helped protect our planet and build a more sustainable world. Where did the time go? 20 years ago, John Paul Stobo or JP as he’s known joined Class One Traffic Management as a fresh-faced university graduate. Since then, he has become a big part of the Class One family and has worked on some of our landmark projects including Forth Road Bridge, Queensferry Crossing, and Edinburgh Trams to name but a few. Our Chairman, Mike Healey sends his congratulations to JP, saying: “JP has a wicked sense of humour. He is a well-liked and respected member of the Class One Team and will always greet you with a smile. Over the past 20 years, JP has shown us some interesting haircuts and there’s a few grey hairs now appearing, but he will still be found at his desk as a valued member of our contracts team where he ensures things run according to plan. JP is a wonderful addition to our team and is a friend to many of his colleagues.
