Attending various law fairs and programs has been a pivotal part of my first year as a law student. These experiences have provided invaluable insights into the practical aspects of law, complementing my academic pursuits. Dear connection, please indulge me as I share my experiences from the law events and virtual vacation schemes I have had the privilege to attend in the past weeks, one post at a time😊. I will be starting with AllAboutLaw First year Virtual Law Fair. An event put together for aspiring solicitors to network and boost the chances of securing a training contract. A huge thank you to Alyssa Barbero for delving into the specifics of different law firms and highlighting the importance of understanding a firm's culture. It was enlightening to hear from trainees like Khadijah Sufi from Macfarlanes and Dilraj Singh Rai from Jones Day about their experiences in their respective firms and training seats. The session on crafting impactful applications was particularly enlightening. I learned what makes an application stand out and common mistakes to avoid, thanks to the insights from Faeqa Chowdhury , Cristina Gutierrez David Roe Arran Crump Toby Tompkins and Isabel Elsey We also had an engaging session on commercial awareness. Thanks to Toby Tompkins Christopher Selwyn and Catherine Morgan-Guest for sharing their tips on how to be commercially aware and effectively link this awareness to our applications. Lastly, a special thanks to Ryan Naidoo Martina Kobal Maria Oniscu Yasmin Ahmad and the other wonderful trainees for their tips on being successful trainee. Thanks to AllAboutLaw for anchoring such an impactful event and counting me worthy to be one of the attendees. I am deeply grateful to all the firms and speakers who participated in this event. It was an incredibly insightful experience that left me eager to learn more and explore further!
