“To me, Bisexual Awareness Week is about finding community, feeling supported, and celebrating my identity as a bisexual individual." We believe that our culture of inclusion is vital in ensuring all our Veeamers feel a sense of belonging at Veeam. This Bisexual Awareness Week we asked Dante Barreto to share their thoughts on acceptance and what it means to work alongside colleagues that support #lgbt inclusion in the workplace: 🌈 What does Bisexual Awareness Week mean to you personally? “It's a chance to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions and create a more inclusive society. Personally, it's about finding community, feeling supported, and celebrating my identity as a bisexual individual." 💼 Are there any misconceptions about bisexuality that you would like to address during this awareness week? "One common misconception is that bisexuality is just a phase or a transitionary period, or that bisexual individuals are promiscuous or confused. It's crucial to recognize that bisexuality is a valid and complete identity.” ❓ How can we promote greater understanding and acceptance? “A basic start is to respect and validate the identities and experiences of bisexual individuals. I have experienced bisexual erasure, where others misconstrue my relationships or assume that I will eventually 'choose' one gender over the other. Education, open-mindedness, and genuine support from allies are crucial in creating an inclusive society."
