Our technology is based on a mathematical breakthrough which allows us to control the grid risk in real-time. We connect to the grid's Scada system or a digital twin of the grid and take into account all production/consumption changes, statistical failure rates of the grid components and apply this to a model of the power system. We also look at weather data, lightning data, wildfires, animal migration data and integrate it with other data sources such as DLR. It's an exact method and we retain all information. The impact is that we are able to, with high accuracy, control the grid's system risk. This allows us to coordinated security assessment and risk management including grid failures up to 48 hours in advance. We present a list contingecy list and help grid operators run scenarios to find the optimal solution. This is only possible if you are able to calculate the effect of all these scenarios on the fly with a high accuracy real-time solution like ours. Controlling the system risk of the grid in real-time also allows for grid operators to use available excess capacity (n-1) by quantifying the risk on system level. Higher risk taking would typically lead to excess usage of the components. We help prevent this by keeping usage of grid components within physical operational limits as designed by the manufacturers. The software uses these historical events to get better and better predictions as time elapse. Furthermore our technology combines these probabilistic (not deterministic) risk estimates with the cost of running the grid. This allows the solution to be used as a "planning tool" to for planned grid upgrades, while minimizing the risk in grid developments while maintaining a maximum economical profit. The solution is 100% software based and there's no hardware involved.

That is why it is so important that we continue to support research and development in our publicly owned power grid. More capacity in the power grid provides more opportunities for Norway," says Minister of Energy Terje Aasland.

🚀The Role of Innovative Grid Technologies (IGTs) As Europe progresses towards a more sustainable energy future, the investment required in electricity networks is projected to be substantial. Without the widespread deployment of Innovative Grid Technologies (IGTs), the necessary investments could reach approximately €1,000 billion in the transmission network and another €1,000 billion in the distribution network by 2040. However, there's a silver lining. By integrating IGTs on a large scale, we could potentially reduce the need for conventional network expansion by around 35%, resulting in gross savings of up to €700 billion by 2040. While these figures don’t account for the costs of IGT deployment, studies such as those from the US Department of Energy suggest that IGTs can enhance capacity at a lower cost than traditional methods. The potential for substantial cost savings and increased efficiency makes the case for IGTs compelling. It's a promising avenue for Europe’s energy infrastructure, blending innovation with cost-effectiveness to meet future demands. - På kontoret mitt har jeg et bilde av Herøya Industripark hengende på veggen. Bildet er daglig påminnelse av hvorfor jeg går på jobb. Det handler om at folk skal kunne våkne hver morgen og ha en trygg og god jobb å gå til. På Herøya Industripark AS har folk gjennom generasjoner har utviklet gode liv – og forutsetningen har vært rimelig og ren energi. Det er mye av det Industriuka handler om. Her snakket jeg sammen med Sverre Gotaas, Jon-Fredrik Baksaas og Frode Alfheim om hvordan vi nettopp kan få til denne verdiskapingen, men samtidig ta hensyn til klima og natur. Jeg er også veldig glad for å besøke Pointbreak som sammen med Norner AS har utviklet en teknologi og et pilotanlegg for gjenvinning av plast. Og ikke minst, Infinigrid AS som leverer digitale løsninger for et mer effektivt strømnett. Fordi det er også en annen historie med dette bildet. På Herøya er det plass, men det er begrenset tilgang på overføringsnett. Det er mange «Herøyer» rundt i landet. Steder som skaper arbeidsplasser, aktivitet og inntekter. Derfor er min viktigste jobb å legge til rette for at vi kutter klimagassutslipp, trygger jobber og kan realisere de mange mulighetene vi har i landet vårt.
