Have you ever asked yourself who's on your team? Your family? Of course. Your friends? Absolutely. Your colleagues? Yes. Your employer? Maybe. Jones Engineering? Yes In April 2022, I lost 95% of the power in my right leg overnight. I was subsequently diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called Neurosarcoidosis which causes inflammation to the brain. During this past two and a half years, while undergoing quite an aggressive treatment I experienced unwavering support, understanding, compassion, and respect from my friends and colleagues in Jones Engineering I have been accommodated with every request that I made. Whether it was special parking when returning to work, working part-time, working closer to home, working from home, working around appointments, or simply helping to ease my workload, on the days I felt I couldn't cope, you did it all. You helped take away the fear that comes with not knowing what lies ahead in situations like these, by assuring me I still had a job, and in doing so you facilitated my ability to focus on getting better. You sent texts, get well soon cards, bought chocolate, made coffees, called to check on me and most importantly listened to me...especially on the bad days when I just cried (and yes there were a lot of those days!) For all this and so much more I am incredibly grateful. I am extremely lucky that the loss of power to my leg was temporary, and with physio and ongoing treatment I am very optimistic that this will remain the case.
