India’s 2024-25 Union Budget, recently announced tax changes and new employment-linked incentives. • 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟓% 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: • Incentives for additional employment in manufacturing, supporting both employee and employer with respect to their EPFO contributions for the first 4 years. • Reimburses up to Rs3,000/month for 2 years towards EPFO contributions for each additional employee with salaries up to Rs1 lakh/month across all sectors. 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: • Employer deduction of social security is proposed to be increased from 10% to 14% of employee salary. • Proposed to deduct up to 14% of salary for employees in private sector, public sector banks, and undertakings under the new tax regime. • The standard deduction for salaried employees is proposed to increase from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. • The deduction for family pensioners is proposed to be enhanced from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000. Effective 15 July 2024, Thailand has expanded its visa-free entrance system to include 93 countries, up from 57. Visitors can now stay for up to 60 days without a visa. Additionally, the country has launched the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), a 5-year visa for digital nomads. This visa allows for stays of up to 180 days per year with the option to extend for another 180 days. To qualify, applicants must be at least 20 years old, have at least THB500,000 in their bank account, and provide proof of employment.
