Omg, countries just can’t seem to get out of their own way when rolling out #digitalnomadvisas… 🤦♀️ Malaysian embassy has announced a proof of residency requirement for the new #DestinationThailandVisa (or #DTV) amongst other additional documents. Why is this a huge mistake on their part? ❌ Creating huge admin hassle for #digitalnomads who require freedom and flexibility. 🐴 Who pays a deposit and commits to a lease before they even knowif they can get a visa?!This puts the cart before the horse… 📝 Thai landlords don’t offer 6-month leases anyways. You do month-to-month or you do 12-months. So disappointed to see this mar an otherwise perfect visa rollout. Has anyone seen this from other embassies or consulates? Hoping it’s just Malaysia creating a hassle and others will stick to the criteria announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

【Issuance of card-type document to non-Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents by country to enhance convenience of immigration clearance】 We warmly welcome and are grateful to the country for announcing that non-Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents will soon be eligible for a card-type document to enhance convenience of clearance at control points of the Mainland. The new arrangement will further enable non-Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents in the business sector to travel to the Mainland smoothly and efficiently for various business activities, and promote cross-boundary exchanges of the business community. With the unique advantages under "one country, two systems", Hong Kong is an ideal destination for Mainland and overseas enterprises to set up or expand their businesses, as well as the most preferred gateway for international investors and businesses to enter the Mainland market. The new measure will further strengthen the unique advantages of Hong Kong as a bridge to the Mainland market, and complements the "northbound" multiple-entry visa initiative as announced in the 2023 Policy Address. Coupled with our world-class professional services and infrastructure facilities, more foreign capital and enterprises will be attracted to set up regional headquarters or offices in Hong Kong. The new measure is not limited to any nationality or industry, which fully highlights Hong Kong's unique status under 'one country, two systems' and greatly helps Hong Kong maintain its international character and diversity, thereby providing a significant incentive for companies and talent from around the world to settle in Hong Kong. We will certainly make good use of the measure to make even greater contributions to the development of the country. #HongKong #BrandHongKong #Asiasworldcity #HongKongPermanentResident #JakartaETO #HKETOJakarta

The recent launch of Indonesia's long-term 'Golden' visa scheme, requiring substantial investments for five to ten-year residency, raises a pertinent question: Are golden visas in Southeast Asia genuinely effective in attracting meaningful investments, or are they merely superficial enticements? We have seen similar moves in Malaysia and Thailand with little rationale or most importantly any perspectives or consultations with existing and potential pass holders, the question remains - are these simply marketing tactics aimed at wealthy individuals seeking convenience and status?
Indonesia launches ‘Golden Visa’ to lure foreign investors, boost economy https://lnkd.in/gF9VnAAd The five-year “Golden Visa” requires individual investors to set up a company worth US$2.5 million, while a 10-year visa requires a US$5 million investment. Individuals not looking to set up a company must place US$350,000 and US$700,000 to gain a five-year and 10-year permit respectively, and the money can be used to buy Indonesian government bonds and public company stocks, or place deposits.

The Indonesian government has recently introduced a new investment-based “golden visa” scheme. The nuts and bolts of the scheme are set out in Government Regulation No. 40 of 2023 on Immigration (“GR 40/2023”, effective 4 August 2023) and Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 22 of 2023 on Visas and Residence Permits (“MOLHR Reg. 22/2023”, effective 24 August 2023), which revokes MOLHR Regulation No. 29 of 2021. While GR 40/2023 and MOLHR Reg. 22/2023 deal with a wide range of immigration-related issues, given limitations of space we will confine our analysis in this legal update to the following three topics: a. the golden visa scheme for investors; b. merging of temporary residence visa (VITAS) and temporary residence permit (ITAS); and c. the introduction of an immigration bond scheme as an alternative to sponsorship for foreign residents of Indonesia. Note: The Directorate General of Immigration recently launched a very helpful new website (accessible at https://lnkd.in/gwsCeApQ) that allows intending visitors to Indonesia to easily apply online for all types of visa, including golden visas. The site provides a series of dropdown boxes featuring a list of nationalities, purposes of visit, and the different types of visa that may be available to a particular applicant. All the applicant has to do is to select the visa they require and submit their application via the site. 1. What is a golden visa scheme and how does Indonesia’s scheme work for investors? A so-called golden visa or “residence by investment” scheme may be broadly defined as a process through which qualified persons are granted residence (and sometimes citizenship) rights in exchange for an economic contribution to the host country. These schemes have proved to be extremely popular, and it is estimated that they are currently offered by some 100 countries around the world. So essentially, by laying the Intelligent Content Marketing strategy, there's no way you can loose. Because both the free customers, meaning the ones that don't pay, and the ones that pay, they're still spreading your message. So you're growing exponentially just by showcasing your expertise. Absolutely. However, going back to the point about being an intellectual silver bullet. We have an example of a business that we started about a year and a half into the Hong Kong Visa Center business. Throughout all my prior years in immigration, both in Hong Kong and then globally. I knew that there was a significant market for a second nationality strategy that was based on a really good European jurisdiction that would allow you access to a really good, sophisticated European country from an immigration perspective that gave you then immediate access to the complete EU. That was going to require a minimum amount of time having to be spent in that country to qualify for it. That would require ultimately the minimum amount of investment that you needed to qualify for it. The minimum amount of pain and process all things considered. In 2011-2012, the Portuguese government introduced a program called the Golden residence permit, which was essentially an immigration program that that addressed the shortcomings as I perceive them for a very fit effective, cost effective, efficient second nationality. I won't go into the details. It was the program to be to be considering because everywhere else was expensive, and not that easy to actually qualify for it. It involves a lot of due diligence and a lot of flying around and spending time in country and just the oil disruption in order to get the passport ultimately over time. #innovation #immigrationinnovation #intelligentcontentmarketing

Thailand’s LTR Visa is contributing to the emergence of a wealthy middle-class Thai expat resident. Over the past month, I’ve come into contact with four expats holding this visa. It’s encouraging to see so many foreigners out and about in Thai neighborhoods. In areas like Pratumnak, Jomtien, and Pattaya, there is a buzz. People are conversing in cafes, participating in recreation, and there’s a real sense of community. The LTR visa is valid for 10 years and can be accessed with a one-time application fee of THB 50,000 (approximately USD 1,500). This visa is aimed at the following individuals (including their spouses and dependents) who wish to live and work in Thailand: • High-net-worth global investors • Wealthy retirees • Digital nomads • Highly skilled professionals #thailand #relocate #thaivisa
