Celebrating Inaugural Diversity Internship Programme Last month, we successfully concluded our inaugural Diversity Summer Internship Programme. DFI Retail Group, Hongkong Land Limited and Hong Kong Maxim's Group have joined hands for the first time this summer to launch the Diversity Internship Programme, a 5-week programme aimed to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), which is part of our strategic focus on creating an inclusive workplace to attract top-tier talent.      Through this programme, five talented students from diverse backgrounds rotated across the three companies to gain hands-on experience across various functions, including Finance, Marketing, Commercial, Corporate Social Responsibility, and People & Culture. They have brought unique cultural perspectives to the organisations and inspired new ways to collaborate and problem solving.   We celebrated the programme's success at a closing ceremony in our Hong Kong office. Our partnering companies expressed interest in expanding the programme to involve more students next year. We are eager to continue fostering DE&I at the workplace everyday, and a more inclusive future.   Check out the highlights in the video!     #DFIRetailGroup #HongkongLand #MaximsGroup #DiversityInternshipProgramme

Hongkong Land joined forces with our valued tenant, Des Voeux Chambers for our most recent WOMEN in CENTRAL event to address the topic of ‘Navigating the Courtroom and Beyond: Inspiring Stories of Women Shaping Dispute Resolution’.    Welcoming over 40 litigation experts from within the Hongkong Land Central Portfolio, the event commenced with a fireside chat featuring Catrina Lam and Frances Lok SC from Des Voeux Chambers, followed by smaller round table discussions.   Some key takeaways from the event were:   ▪ Organisations should institutionalise flexibility in the workplace.  ▪ A mentor doesn’t have to be official. Sometimes when they don’t know they are, the outcome can be even more powerful. ▪ Balancing life commitments with work requires effective delegation and trust.  ▪ Structural support is what is needed in order to support work and family balance. Verbal support is encouraging, structural support is transformational. ▪ Senior leaders should talk about their struggles so that those that are rising up don’t feel like they need to hide behind a tough veneer. ▪ Don’t follow anyone. It’s not a race. Take the time you need from your career to do what is needed in your life. Your career is long. Career breaks are often not when looking at the bigger picture. ▪ For gender equality to get to a better place, senior lawyers really need to set the tone.  ▪ Challenging environments and people you face in your career can make you stronger and more determined to succeed.  ▪ Don’t allow others' expectations of your career guide your career - especially if it isn’t aligned with the vision you have for yourself.  ▪ Building community in organisations can help talent to feel a sense of belonging but also more easily tackle challenging personal and professional times.   Thank you to Des Voeux Chambers for partnering with us on this event and for your unwavering commitment to Gender Diversity. #HongkongLand #Hkland #inspireaspire #WOMENinCENTRAL #GenderDiversity

AI is undoubtedly playing an increasing pivotal role in motivating tenants to implement ESG practices and enhancing building automation. Andy Yeung, Director & Head of Technical Services, Mark Lam Head of Investors Relations & Corporate Sustainability and Grace Lam, Senior Sustainability Manager recently sat down with Ming Pao and shared how banks have been driving the ESG agenda over the past 4-5 years, putting pressure on listed companies like Hongkong Land to implement ESG measures. Mark shared observations of tenants and their employees’ increasing expectations from their landlord on ESG-related matters, such as waste management and emission reduction. To address this, Grace shared that Hongkong Land has launched a Tenant Sustainability Partnership Programme, providing tenants with a checklist to confirm environmental initiatives in their offices and organizing community engagement activities to encourage participation. Andy shared some examples of how Hongkong Land has reduced electricity usage by 30% from 2008 to 2022 by upgrading building facilities. Supported by IoT and AI, he explained how the company is implementing predictive maintenance to optimize system performance. Measures include using double-glazed windows, obtaining higher green certifications, and replacing HVAC, fans, and elevators with more energy-efficient models. Data analysis and AI models have helped improve fan efficiency by 7-14% and automate air conditioning based on staff return patterns, yielding over 20% electricity savings on elevators. We look forward to continuing to work alongside our tenants as we increase automation and AI integration across all building systems. #Hkland #HongkongLand #inspireaspire #PropTech #AITechnology #SustainabilityFramework2030
