The EC’s annual #eGovernment Benchmark exercise helps not only in showcasing best practices and success stories, but also in identifying the areas of online public service provision that are still in need of improvement. For example, in this year’s report, with Cross-Border User Support scoring an average of nearly 80 points, it appears that European cross-border portals have user-feedback capabilities allowing them to comply with the Single Digital Gateway Regulation's obligation of monitoring user-feedback on cross-border portal websites – that’s the good news. On the other hand, only 33% of countries provide cross-border users with the ability to authenticate using their national eID. Web accessibility is another eGovernment aspect in need of renewed focus – 65% of all EU27 government websites fail to meet all eight of the measured criteria. We can also identify that cybersecurity must be ramped up, transparency in data sovereignty should be improved, and the disparity between central and local government services needs to be fixed. ⛅ However, rest assured – there’s also a silver lining. The Benchmark report also notes the big strides made by governments in delivering their digital public services, as Europe paves the way for an interoperable Single Digital Gateway. How are digital public services evolving across different countries? Who’s leading the way, who’s catching up, and what challenges remain? Europe’s governments are embracing digital. Of course, they are. It’s the natural evolution of service delivery across both the public and private sectors. But just how seamless, efficient, and accessible are these online public services? To find out, read the European Commission’s 2024 #eGovernment Benchmark report. Conducted by us along with Sogeti, IDC, and the Politecnico di Milano, the latest benchmarking exercise monitoring the progress of online public services reveals that vital IT building blocks, known as Key Enablers, have made the biggest improvement in the past 12 months compared to the other dimensions measured. The report also looks further back to compare the latest findings with those of four years ago. The good news is that EU Members States and other participating European countries are all making steady progress. In fact, 91% of central government services are now online. But what more needs to be done to achieve the EU’s Digital Decade target of all services to be 100% online by 2030? Find the answer to this, along with insights into best practices, successes, and the services gaps that need to be addressed, by downloading the full report: https://bit.ly/3tcJowj #DigitalGovernment #GovernmentServices #PublicSector

The latest EC #eGovernment report offers a fascinating glimpse into the progress Europe is making towards a Single Digital Gateway – from the differing levels of digital maturity in central, regional, and local governments, to the (closing) gap between eGovernment leaders across Europe. Some dimensions are performing better than others – user centricity, for example. And some countries are really setting the pace, notably Malta, followed by Estonia. And while the latest eGovernment Benchmark survey reveals a number of service gaps that need to be addressed, it’s encouraging to see a clear progression over the past four years in how governments provide services to their citizens online. This growth is highlighted by a 5-point increase in the EU27 score for overall digital maturity between the 2020-2021 study and the 2022-2023 study. To find out which dimensions and countries are eGovernment leaders and which ones are lagging behind, download the report: https://bit.ly/3Zy4Acc #DigitalGovernment #GovernmentServices #CitizenServices #DigitalServices #PublicSector
