🥇 Portugal, Poland and... Spain. We are the first company to operate hybrid projects in these three key European markets - Portugal, Poland, and Spain - which are central to our business strategy and where we aim to expand our renewable footprint further. Hybridization has been a strong focus for EDPR in this fast-paced world, and it will continue to be a key success factor on this winding path of energy transition, where every day counts. This hybrid approach has enabled us to boost energy production by up to 40% by integrating additional renewable energy sources, significantly cutting costs and minimizing environmental impact. We currently have 0.3 GW of hybrid projects in operation across Europe. We aim to continue being pioneers, highlighting our innovative profile and leveraging our expertise for the benefit of our planet. 🌞 Shinning bright in Italy! 🇮🇹 We have connected our first large-scale solar project in Italy to the grid! The Boccadoro solar park, located in Serracapriola, Puglia, represents a significant step in diversifying our renewable energy sources in a market with which we have established strong relations. With an installed capacity of 10 MWp, Boccadoro will produce 17.5 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to power over 6,000 homes and avoid the emission of 7,000 tons of CO2 each year. "Projects like Boccadoro accelerate energy independence and strengthen the Italian energy system. Deploying EDP's first utility-scale photovoltaic plant in Italy is a milestone and a demonstration of our commitment to Italy's PNIEC goals of achieving up to 80 GW of installed photovoltaic capacity by 2030”, says Roberto Pasqua, Executive Director South & East Europe at EDPR. We currently have a capacity of almost 400 MW in wind and solar projects under construction in Italy, which will allow EDPR to reach more than 1 GW of clean energy construction capacity since our entry into Italy, marking a significant journey to promote a cleaner future and drive solutions in the renewable energy sector. Through EDP Energia Italia, we are also investing in decentralized solar generation, helping businesses produce their own energy and reduce CO2 emissions. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dsw2kADX

💚 Tech goes green!    We’re pleased to announce a landmark multi-geography Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a major US-based tech company, set to accelerate their clean energy transition across Germany, France, and Italy.   Starting in 2025, this 20-year long PPA will leverage 3 of our photovoltaic projects: 🔅 Ketzin project in Germany (87 MWp); 🔅 Venoy project in France (19 MWp); 🔅 Chiaramonte project in Italy (70 MWp). Combined, these projects will generate over 226 GWh annually, powering the equivalent of more than 72,000 European homes and avoiding 128,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year. This milestone underscores our dedication to support our customers’ sustainability goals while mitigating energy price volatility risk. We are on track to achieve nearly 9 GW of contracted installed capacity in PPAs globally, reinforcing our role as a key player in the global energy transition. A big thank you to all teams involved for their great work! Read more: https://lnkd.in/dhGa4hmT #EDPWeChooseEarth #CleanEnergy

The We Choose Earth Tour '24 has come to an end, and it was truly an inspirational event! The Tour brought together some of the most influential voices, including Ban Ki-moon, Cate Blanchett, Alex Honnold, and Kjell Nordström, whose contributions to the 2024 edition have truly sown the seeds of change. We are profoundly inspired by the insights shared by the speakers in Munich. Cate Blanchett emphasized, “We have to know sustainable energy is not a possibility, it’s a reality”, highlighting the urgency of our actions. Sandrine Dixson-Declève reminded us that “the cost of inaction is greater than the cost of action”. Ban Ki-moon, in his conversation with Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, left us with the empowering message that "we can create the future we want”. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Munich and to those who joined us through the live streaming. Together, we are making significant strides towards a sustainable future for our planet because We Choose Earth. #EDPWeChooseEarth #AllGreen2030 #EnergyTransition

🔋 Our batteries are fully charged in France!   We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership in France to develop a 50 MW standalone battery facility, connected to the national grid. This project supports the Transmission System Operator (TSO) in maintaining a constant balance between electricity production and consumption, furthering France’s decarbonization objectives.   “As a global player in renewable energy, we see the immense potential of storage. Batteries provide essential flexibility, and this partnership underscores our commitment to co-development,” says Etienne Thomassin, Country Manager of EDP Renewables in France.   This collaboration showcases our active role on the dynamic M&A trend in France as well as our commitment to diversify our portfolio to enhance our renewable generation capacity in the country. Alongside our historic wind sector positioning, we are investing heavily in utility-scale photovoltaics, distributed generation, hydrogen, and now battery storage.   This project is our third storage project in Europe, after two projects acquired in 2023 in the UK, and we aim to reach 500 MW of storage by 2026 to continue driving the energy transition forward. 🔙 Looking back to Intersolar Europe 2024   Last week, a vast EDPR team, including our CEO Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, was thrilled to be at the Intersolar Europe 2024 conference in Munich!   Under the banner of "Connecting Solar Business", the event brings together leading industry players and experts from around the world. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to network and showcase our projects in Germany, a market we recently entered through the acquisition of Kronos Solar in 2022. Germany is the largest renewable energy market in Europe, with over 300 GW of new projects expected by 2030. EDPR has primarily focused on solar technology, but we are actively working to diversify our portfolio into other technologies, with a particular emphasis on the field of wind energy.   We are excited to continue our journey in Europe, leveraging this opportunity to drive forward the renewable energy transition. #EDPWeChooseEarth #Intersolar #Germany

🌞 Forecast: sunny, a lot of sunny. Happy #EuropeanSolarDay! Today, we celebrate the power of the sun and the incredible impact of solar energy across Europe.    At EDPR, we're proud to contribute to a sustainable future. Our total operating solar capacity is 617 MW across 6 countries, including Portugal, Spain, France, Netherlands, Poland, and Romania, and growing with new assets soon in Italy and Germany. These solar plants span over 300 hectares, which is equivalent to more than 500 football fields.   With an estimated annual production of over 1.2 TWh, we power the equivalent of more than 2 million European households, avoiding over 800,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually—equivalent to more than 44,000 average airplane flights.   As proud members of SolarPower Europe, we continue to drive the energy transition forward in Europe with a strong pipeline of solar energy projects ongoing.   Let's catch the power of the sun for a brighter, greener future!    #EDPWeChooseEarth #SolarEnergy #EuropeanSolarDay
