Pacific Northwest Trip in Photos

It's been 3 weeks since we ventured into the Pacific Northwest, and I am already missing that delicious pine scented mountain air.

Our trip to Spokane, Washington and Couer d'Alene, Idaho couldn't possibly have been more fun and I'm reliving our adventures through looking at these photos.

The Thursday we left, we both worked the whole day, so we didn't get into Spokane until late. We checked into the historic, gorgeous Davenport Hotel, nestled into bed with our belated dinner, and indulged in a Scandal marathon.

The next morning was Halloween, and we admired the pumpkin carving contest in the lobby. They were so incredibly intricate!

After breakfast, we did some shopping at some cute stores on Lincoln Street (kiddo store - French Toast - so cute!) before heading to the Riverfront Park area. We had WAY too much fun sliding down the Radio Flyer wagon slide and seeing how beautiful Spokane is in the fall.

Before heading East to gorgeous check-in at the gorgeous Couer d'Alene Resort, we happened to stumble along Atticus Coffee & Gifts - the most charming little store and chill place to grab a cup of joe. The barista was so friendly and talented - she capped of my pumpkin latte with skull latte art in lieu of the holiday!

We finally hit the road sipping coffee and listening to my favorite folky hipster music. The mountains were misty and the scenery was gorgeous. While in the lobby checking in we noticed that the main street in town was full of tricker treaters, We headed that way, and once we realized that all of the businesses and restaurants pass out candy, we grabbed a window seat at a cute little bar and sipped seasonal brews while watching the adorable kiddos pass by in their costumes.

The next morning we woke up early and my hubby ordered us a rose petal breakfast in bed for 2, complete with huckleberry mimosas. Lawd have mercy!

For some reason, after downing big fluffy pancakes, we thought it would be a good idea to go hike Tubbs Hill. Thanks to the recommendation of my blogger friends, Samantha, who is local to the CDA area, we had a great time, only got lost 3 times, and caught some gorgeous views of the lake.

Don't worry, I'm already looking at airline tickets to go back... ;)

Stay tuned, I have lots more photos and fun stories to share, and then you can get a hankering to travel the Pac Northwest too!

The Travel Countdown is On!

The beauty of working in the non-profit world is the insane amount of vacation days they give you to make up for lack of salary. Hey, I will take a super rewarding job and tons of PTO over a big salary any day of the week. With the last quarter of the year approaching quickly, I am still sitting on 15 days to use and by golly... I'm ready for some time off!

Knowing that Adam will be out in Spokane, Washington in October, I thought it would be perfect to fly in to and meet him for an extra long weekend! We have set our sights on beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho after falling in love with it on our adventure last winter, and it's just a 30 minute drive to CDA from Spokane (and a gorgeous one at that).

Last Friday, I booked our little mini trip and I can hardly contain my excitement! Spending time with my favorite guy in the most breathtaking spot has me antsy for some fresh air and the end of October!

Here's a glimpse at our trip...

Looking forward to checking into the award-winning gorgeous Coeur d'Alene Resort and Spa that is nestled right on the tree-lined lake. The views are insane all over the resort. I loved soaking in the sunset while sitting by the fire in our lakeside room - so cozy!

I have also booked a relaxing couples massage at the resort spa so we can really enjoy unwinding together. When Adam goes to Spokane for business trips it's a lot of long days and manual labor, so I think he will really enjoy taking it easy after a crazy week.

Coeur d'Alene Resort - SPA

The actual downtown of Coeur d'Alene is very classic, quaint, and picturesque. Rows and rows or brick buildings that house local boutiques and cute restaurants in abundance. Last year I found the most amazing Christmas shop and you can only imagine how much restraint I had to exercise to not walk out with the whole store. Can't wait to go back!

Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Downtown. If your travel plans are flexible, consider going during the arts festival in early August (first weekend?). Fun!

We are also excited to do a lot of hiking around the lake trails everyday and taking in the sights. Last year when I was there the leaves were all golden yellow and it was so stunning!

We are also looking into taking a 3 hour drive west to visit Glacier National Park. I've never been to Montana before, so I would really love to check another state off my bucket list!

Every single photo we've seen of Glacier looks incredible - crystal clear lakes, great hiking, scenic drives - yes please! I am not quite sure if it will be open for visitors still at the end of October, but if it is I am dying to explore!

Spokane + Coeur d'Alene Trip in Photos

I've been wanting to fill you all in on my little trip to Spokane, Washington and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho ever since I first laid eyes on the gorgeousness that in the Northwest.

I have never ever been to that part of the country and I guess I thought it wouldn't be as beautiful as it was! So I flew into Spokane with my mother-in-law, Sarah, to visit Adam and my father-in-law for the weekend while they were their on business... and never wanted to come home.

Once we got in we enjoyed lunch and tea at The Davenport Hotel downtown. So historic and fun!
I indulged in the famous soft peanut brittle from Davenport Confections and a handcrafted snowflake ornament in the little hotel boutique shop.

On our way back to meet up with the guys, we decided to stop in some other local boutiques downtown. I loved Isabelle Paris Maison - so original with beautiful antique touches! I was also in love with kids store, French Toast, where I bought some cute little gifts for my preggo friends!

The next day, we stopped by too visit our hubbies at the new Spokane plant - so stinking proud of them!

They were going to work the rest of the day, so we hopped across the Washington border to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. By far one of the prettiest places I've ever been to!

We drove around the scenic lake view, and then shopped along the main street there, where I continued to fuel my Christmas obsession by buying way to much holiday decor! :)

We stayed at Coeur d'Alene Resort right on the lake, and even the lobby was beautiful. When I checked into my room I am pretty sure my jaw dropped. One room and the view was so romantic and cozy! Loved having the fireplace in our room.

And those Coeur d'Alene sunsets.... ahh! I already dream of going back.

A few panoramic shots of our room and the balcony view each night via my iPhone!

A few other favorites! The resort desserts were so yum!

The guys had to work on Saturday morning unexpectedly, so we drove to Sandpoint, Idaho, which is a cute little town surrounded by lakes. And once again, so many cute home stores in the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market full of Christmas decorations.

My suitcase was MUCH heavier on my way back to KC!

Our last morning was cold and foggy (a little Twilight esque, if you will - haha!), so I was so excited to lounge around the resort spa and enjoy a couples massage with hubs. The setting overlooked the lake and I loved every minute of it.

I sure missed that man while he's been gone the last few weeks, so I was soaking in every moment with him.

As sad as I was to leave my hubby in Spokane, I was glad to see this cute pups little face when I got home. It made it a little bit better to snuggle Bella Beast.

So long Washington and Idaho, I will be back again very soon. Already secretly planning my next stay at Coeur d'Alene, my new fave. You have to go visit - these pictures don't even do it justice!

Leaving On A Jet Plane

Short work week for me, folks (and I'm not complaining)!

Off to visit my sweet, hard-working hubby in Spokane, Washington, and then heading to Couer d'Alene, Idaho to be surrounded by gorgeousness! That man has been working in a huge work project, so it will be fun to finally see him and spend some time together.

Have you ever been to either place? Any great recommendations?

We're heading to the spa for massages one day, so that will be heavenly. Aside from that, we'll just be enjoying the scenery, snuggling in front of a fire, and just enjoy being in the same state!

So many photos and recaps to come next week!

Hugs and kisses!
