Batido de Papaya ( Colombian Papaya Smoothie)



Papaya smoothie is a very healthy summer drink. Unfortunately it is not tasty enough for some people especially kids of all ages. Colombians have made a solution for this. They add vanilla essence to dilute the flavor of papaya. A definite try out for you this hot summer season.

Recipe Cuisine : International / Colombia| Recipe Category: Smoothie
Preparation Time: 10 mins | Serves : 1

Ingredients:
Papaya pieces
1/2 cup
Boiled cold milk
1 cup
Sugar
3-4 tbsp
Vanilla essence
½ tsp
Cardamom Powder
A pinch
Ice Cubes
1 cup

1. Peel the skin of the papaya and remove the seeds from it. Then cut it into small cubes. Now take ½ cup of papaya cubes for this recipe.
2. Grind papaya, sugar and ice cubes into fine paste.
3. Then add milk, essence and cardamom powder. Grind them well and strain using the juice strainer. 
     Yummy papaya milkshake is ready.

Note:
1. Add milk only when you are about to serve, otherwise it will become after short period of time.

Papaya Mango Juice


Those who don’t like papaya juice mix it with mango is good way to make them consume papaya. The juice will be as good as pure mango juice and papaya will not drastically saying the taste.

Preparation Time: 10 mins  |  Yields: 3-4 cups

Ingredients:
Papaya Pieces
1 cup
Mango Pieces
1 cup
Sugar
As needed
Water
As required

Procedure:
1. Wash and remove the skin and seeds of the papaya. Then cut it into small cubes and keep it aside.
2. Wash and remove the skin of the mango. Cut the flesh from the mango and chop them into small pieces.
3. Add equal amount of papaya and mango pieces in a mixie jar.
4. Then add sugar and grind them into fine paste. Add little water if needed.
5. Now strain the juice using the juice strainer and add enough water to bring the paste into juice consistency.
   Serve it at room temperature or refrigerate and serve.
Wow yummy and healthy juice is ready !

Note:
1. Adjust the sugar level according to your taste and fruits taste.

Raw Papaya Paratha | Easy Paratha Recipes

In my hometown, there is abundant papaya. But my family does not like to have more of it. I made this papaya paratha and didn’t tell about its ingredients. Everyone liked and devoured it.

Preparation Time: 5 mins  | Cooking Time: 20 mins | Yields: 5 nos.

Ingredients:
For Dough:

Wheat Flour
1 cup
Salt
As required
Oil
2 tsp
Water
As required
Oil
For making paratha
For Stuffing:

Grated raw papaya
1 cup
Finely Chopped Onion
¼ cup
Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp
Coriander Powder
2 tsp
Turmeric Powder
¼ tsp
Garam Masala Powder
½ tsp
Salt
Required
To Temper the Stuffing:

Oil
1 tsp
Cumin Seeds
1 tsp
To Garnish:

Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves
(optional)
1 tbsp

Procedure:
How to make grated papaya?       
a. Cut the papaya into two halves horizontally.
b. Peel the skin of the papaya using the peeler.
c. Then cut it into small pieces.
d. Grate them using the grater and keep it aside.

Making dough:
1. In a bowl, add wheat flour, salt and oil. Mix them well.
2. Then add water little by little and knead it into a soft dough. Keep it aside for 10 mins.
Making Stuffing:
3. Heat the oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and wait for splutter.
4. Then add the chopped onion and sauté till they become translucent.
5. Now add the finely chopped tomatoes and sauté till they become mushy.
6. Add grated raw papaya (from d) and sauté till the raw smell of the papaya goes off.
7. Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Sprinkle little water; Sauté till the papaya becomes tender.
8. Add finely add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves (if used). Mix them well and cook for 2 mins. Allow it to cool down completely.
Making Parathas:
9. Now divide the dough (from 2) into a lemon size balls.
10. Now dust the dough ball and roll it into a small circle. Keep 2 tbsp or required amount of stuffing in its center. Then bring the edges to the center.
11. Again dust the stuffed balls and roll it carefully.
 12. Heat the tawa and transfer the papaya paratha, sprinkle the oil and cook both sides till the black spots starts.
       Really healthy and tasty raw papaya paratha ready to serve. Serve it with raitha.

Note:
1.  Sprinkle required water till the papaya becomes tender.

Papaya Juice / Pappali Juice


Papaya fruit is a super food full of goodness and healthy nutrients. But unfortunately it will be the last fruit most people would like to have directly like my hubby. Papaya juice is the best way to make them have papaya.

Ingredients:
Ripe Papaya (small size)
1
Sugar or Honey
1 tbsp
Water
As required

Procedure:
1. Remove the skin and seeds of the papaya.  Cut it into small cubes.
2. Add  the papaya cubes and sugar in a mixie jar.
3. Grind them into a smooth paste. Then add little water and again grind them into a fine paste.
4. Strain this mixture using the juice strainer. Then add enough water to bring it into juice consistency.
5. Healthy juice is ready to serve. You can chill it in a refrigerator or have it immediately.

Note:
1. Addition of water level is your choice.
2. Instead of sugar you can add honey or brown sugar or palm sugar.

Papaya Halwa | Halwa Recipes

     Eventhough papaya is a very very healthy fruit, many people hate it and does not like to have it. Papaya halwa is a very good way to make them have papaya. The good thing is the papaya taste comes down and halwa taste nominates.  My kid and family loved it and its a must try dish.

Preparation Time: 5 mins  | Cooking Time: 20 mins | Yields : 3/4 cup

Ingredients:
Papaya Puree
1 ½ cup
Milk
¾ cup
Sugar
¾ cup
Corn Flour
1 tbsp
Cardamom Pods
3
Cashew Nuts
15
Ghee
2 tbsp

Procedure:
Preparation Procedure:
1. Remove the skin and seeds of the papaya. Then cut it into small cubes. Grind them into a very fine paste using the mixie without water.
2. Take 1 tbsp of corn flour in a small bowl and add 3 tbsp of water. Leave it for 1 min and mix them well without lumps.
3. Chop the Cashew nuts into small pieces or use as it is.
4. Powder the cardamom pods and keep it aside.
Cooking Procedure:
1. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in pan, fry the cashew nuts till they turns into golden color. Take them out from the pan and keep it aside.
2. In the same pan add the papaya puree. Saute till raw smell goes off and till it becomes thick.
3. Now add the boiled milk (after it is cool down) and mix them well. Cook it in a medium flame till the mixture becomes thick.
4. Now add the corn flour mixture (from step 2 in preparation procedure) and mix them immediately for 2 mins.
5. Then add the sugar and cardamom pods. Mix them well, now the mixture becomes dilute.
6. So cook till the mixture becomes thick and till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Stir them occasionally.
7. Finally add 1 tbsp of ghee and fried cashew nuts. Mix them well and switch off the flame.
Allow it to cool down and serve. Otherwise serve it hot. Tasty and healthy Papaya halwa is ready.

Note:
1. Adjust the sugar level depending upon the sweetness of papaya.
2. Corn flour gives glossy look for the halwa.
3. Use cardamom powder instead of cardamom pods.
4. Grind the papaya into a fine paste is very important. Otherwise the halwa will have lumps.
5. You can store and using it for one week using the refrigerator. You can use this for 3 days at room temperature.

Papaya Orange Jam

     Even though papaya is a very healthy fruit, lot of people have aversion towards it because of its taste. Papaya orange jam is a recipe idea to make people have papaya. The essence of the orange completely dominates papaya and makes it sweet and tasty. My kid and husband finished off the entire preparation in no time, making this a must try recipe.






Ingredients:
Ripe Papaya Puree
 1 cup
Orange  Juice
¼ cup
Sugar
½ cup
Water
1 cup
 Procedure:
1. Remove the skin and seeds of the papaya. Chop it into small pieces. Blend it into puree form using the mixie. Keep it aside.
2. Take the juice from orange and strain it. Keep it aside.
3. Heat a heavy bottomed pan and place the papaya puree and water on it. Mix them well and allow it to cook well.
4. Then add the sugar and orange juice. Mix them well; Keep the flame at medium level.
5. Within a short time you can observe bubbles starting to appear.
6.  Cook till the bubbles stop appearing and the mixture becomes thick.
7. Store it in a clean and dry bottle and use it after the jam has cool down.
Note:You can store and using it for more than 15 days using the refrigerator.
