This fact came up in conversation last weekend while I was teaching at Sew Modern. I was teaching Fast Forward & discussed with my students how I was considering making a giant Fast Forward for my bed. My plan was to use Prince Charming and create something similar to the quilt that Becky made.
I started pulling fabrics and quickly realized with my schedule chances were I'd never finish a Queen/King fast forward. At this point there was no turning back since the excitement of making a quilt for myself had already hit me. It didn't take long for me to connect the dots & realize that Come What May was the perfect pattern. It has big blocks which are not only fast but great for featuring big prints.
Here is a peek at my Come What May quilt. It is so big that it is currently taking up the entire floor of my studio and it was impossible to get all of it photographed at once. Once I get all the blocks pieced together I'll take it outside for more photos.
Come What May, Radio Way & Jawbreaker are all now available!!

I'm so glad that you are making a quilt for yourself! You deserve it. You might just be inspiring me to do the same... :)
I love the way that quilt is looking already! Great fabric combination. : )
Yay! So glad you are treating yourself!
I snatched up my Come What May pattern yesterday as soon as I got the email from Fat Quarter Shop. :)
I can't wait to make this quilt!
Yours is fabulous. I love your fabrics.
Good for you for making a quilt for yourself! I fall the in same boat - I've only ever "made" something for myself by accident. A quilt is definitely on the list for this year! Love the fabrics!
Wohoo! It looks fantastic. Good for you making something for yourself. That will make your new room feel even more like home. And yes - having made 2 King size quilts, simple patterns are the way to go!
okay so *i guess* you can keep this one and i'll take dot party . . . deal?!?!
;)
I like it! A lot!!! :)
The number of quilters that do not sleep under one of their own creations is staggering. More often we make them to comfort and celebrate friends and family.
Hurrah for you. I hope you start a huge movement in the land of all things quilty.
It is so beautiful.
Wow, I love your color combination and the prints you chose. The pattern is so cool, too. Enjoy your new quilt!
I don't have a quilt on my own bed either, although several on the sofa for use while watching TV. I'm just embarking on the Swoon-Along though, with loulouthi prints and some kona ash for the background, so perhaps if my better half likes it that will be 'the one'!
Either way, yours is going to look great. The fabrics are fantastic and the pattern lets them shine.
Beautiful!! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
That quilt is going to be beautiful! And yay for keeping it! I love that pattern...I think I say that about all of your patterns but I think this one is my favorite!
This is so pretty. I've never made a quilt for myself either. I want to pick up this pattern, but I'm trying to see if I have enough fabric in stash - when it lists the requirements and says 4 fabrics and an amount - is that of each fabric or total for the 4 fabrics?
Beautiful quilt and 'yeah' for you making one for yourself...can't wait to see it all finished!!! TFS

Love the fabrics you chose for your quilt!
Love the fabrics...they all go so well together! I have not made a quilt for my bed either...this gives me an idea!
Love your fabric choices. Great to have quilt for yourself!
I love seeing it because I have just ordered your pattern for this quilt from FQ Shop and can't wait for it to arrive!!!
I love how the design jumps out in these fabrics Julie. I am usually i interested in a more faded/muted approach but I am loving this quilt.
The fabrics you chose to use with this pattern is a perfect fit! I can see why it's one of your favorites. I'm glad you persevered and will now have a quilt for your bed.
This is BEAUTIFUL!

Yay for you! The fabrics are beautiful and suit your pattern fabulously! I am working on the back of the first ever quilt made for myself. I can't wait to get it finished and sent off to the quilter's! Wishing you many snuggly nights with your new finish! Smiles~Beth
i can't believe you have not made yourself a quilt Julie?? quickly finish that one and throw it on your bed!!, it's looking beautiful. :)
I love that I'm not the only one who has been quilting that suddenly realized they'd never made a quilt for themselves! I realized this over the holidays and whipped up a quick flannel one! I love the pattern you're using!
Wow! Julie, it looks awesome! Now I want to see it in person! Thanks for mentioning the shop.
Xoxo
Love your quilt patterns! I have been waiting for Come What May to arrive and have just ordered it!
I just ordered my pattern for Come What May. I'm thinking blues, creams and beige/browns. I have also never made a quilt for me. You are so clever!
