Halloween Stem-ware

It's just not fair.
The big, beautiful orange gourd of the pumpkin gets all the glory.
It is what you notice first, what gets carved and decorated.
But what about the stem?  It is the pumpkin's life line, does all the work helping it grow,
and gets NO respect...
until now!

Introducing Halloween a few taSTEMakers that will stand out at the pumpkin patch...

Give your pumpkin a greeting!
This long, lean, straight stem was begging for a flag to wave in the October air.

Make your pumpkin GOURD-ous!
This perfectly curved stem was crying out for chamomile.
I hot glued them on and she was ready for her close-up.

Happy Halloween

Pizza Party- Rolling out Invitations and waving flags

There are only a few foods that scream happiness and fun.
Pizza brings joy where ever it goes
and a pizza party deserves an increDOUGHble invitation.

We've pinned down all the details to get this event rolling...

The only hard decision is what type of pizza to choose...

My 2 favorite ingredients for any pizza party are
basil and flags.
Why not combine them for a fragrant and festive centerpiece?

Everything is better with basil,
 be it tomatoes...

Mushrooms...

or Pepperoni.

Graduation Party Food - Celebrate your State

Cue the Pomp and Circumstance,
It's Graduation Season!
It's an exciting and joyous time where one chapter ends, and for many,
 a collegiate chapter begins.
Why not proudly wave your school's pennant flag and "celebrate the state" on the horizon?

You can get corny for Iowa...

Go nuts for Georgia...

Say, "Hot Dog" for good times in New York...

Cheers to the Colorado home where the Buffalo Roam...

(it is called the Banquet Beer, after all,
and the colors are on point!)

Say, "Cheese" to Wisconsin...

Go Big Blue-berries...

and enjoy Michigan's favorite fruit...

Wave Aloha to Hawaii...

You say, "Potato",
I say your party needs French Fries to honor Idaho's finest...

"Orange" you glad you'll get to visit your co-ed in Florida?
A big bowl of colorful citrus is a fun way to say, "see you later, to your Gater"...

Dare to "Mess with Texas"...

and kick it up by decorating with the Lone Star State's yellow roses...

I also love to commemorate the school with favors in the college colors.
Here we are not being "Cavaliler" as we honor the deep history of Virginias orange and blue...

and cupcakes are always a good idea, right?

Congrats to all the Grads,

My favorite graduation gifts

This is a big graduation season for us.
My daughter is graduation from high school
along with so many other special friends and family.
We are armed and ready with gifts galore!

Of course money goes a long way and these adorable
BlueQ coin purses are the best way to stash some cash...

Some are sentimental...

and others just honest...

To quote the wonderful and wise Dr. Seuss,
"Oh the Places, you'll go"....

I am obsessed with these sweet and dainty, personalized coordinates bracelets from
They can be engraved with the latitude and longitude of your favorite college town.

Fight songs and football games will be filling their Fall schedule...

What better way to light up their school spirit than hand blown
glassybaby candle holders in their school colors?

Their is no doubt that in the midst of all the excitement,
there is bound to be a little longing for home...

Homesick candles are the perfect reminder of where you came from.
One sniff and you are instantly transported back...

will make any dorm room the most popular...

A mini oven, coffee pot and burner can make the breakfast of your dreams
if you are too tired to hit the cafeteria...

Best wishes to all the grads!

Father's Day Centerpieces

There is nothing Dad wants more on Father's Day
than a necktie and a round of golf, right?
Well, roll them both up into centerpieces and he'll be thrilled!

Of course you'll wish him a Happy Father's Day...

and tell him he's #1...

You'll want to honor Grandpa too...

and wether you call him Dad, Daddy or Pops,
you'll be covered.

To make the golf centerpieces,
you can adhere these Father's Day stickers to flags and tie to dowels.
Then place in potted wheat grass or your favorite arrangement.

The tie centerpiece is simply an inexpensive boy's clip on tie,
with a dowel placed in the knot on the back and nestled into potted rosemary.

Memorial Day Cupcakes with meaning

Memorial Day is always fun.
It means summer is just moments away.

We will be celebrating, BBQ-ing and enjoying the day off with...

This year I wanted to find a way to showcase
what this holiday is all about.

I have been so touched by the media coverage of the
recent opening of the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
I thought, why not commemorate the holiday
with cupcakes honoring a few of
our county's famous memorials?

I hope to spur a little conversation,
reflect and have everyone realize how lucky they are.

Here's to the brave that have kept us free...
