Double Take Review

About the Book

Detective James Cross has been honorably discharged from the Army Criminal Investigation Division due to wounds sustained when an IED blew up near him. Now with the Lake City Police Department, he's rooming with this good buddy and partner, Cole, while he figures out his family dynamics.

Physician Assistant Lainie Jackson is eighteen months out from an attempted murder perpetrated by her ex, which ended when she managed to grab the weapon and shoot him. When he appears to have survived and is back to finish the job he started, Lainie insists it's not possible. But someone keeps trying to kill her, and she keeps seeing his face.

Together, Lainie and James must work together to find out who, exactly, is after her and why he wants her dead. And failure is not an option.

USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason will leave you breathless with this fast-paced first book in a brand-new series. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

This story starts off with action and doesn't let up until the very end. I really enjoyed Lainie's character the most and I felt for her through the book. There are creepy stalker scenes and also a confusing mystery of a past death that make up the majority of this book. The suspense is really well written and I tended to not read it at night if I was alone. I think the author did a good job in wrapping up the loose ends and taking the plot where it needed to go. I do wish I liked the secondary characters more and the romance just seemed super rushed and thrown in. I enjoy a good suspense novel and this book is pretty good. I just couldn't quite give it five stars.

Four Stars.

Crossfire Review

About the Book

FBI special agent Julianna James is a top-notch negotiator who has never lost a hostage. Surely, she can manage to take care of her much younger sister, Dottie, who showed up unannounced to live with Julianna while she finished her senior year of high school.

A former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Snyder left the army after a tragic incident that he can't get past. Now he's working as a high school resource officer until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life.

Their paths cross when Julianna is called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay's sister. Impressed and a bit intimidated by the calm, capable woman with the dark hair and blue eyes, Clay invites her to speak at his school. Dottie's school.

But as the anniversary of a school shooting from Julianna's past approaches, it becomes clear that her perfect record is about to be tested and that Dottie is at risk. If Julianna and Clay can't figure out who's behind the attacks, more innocent people will die--and Julianna just might be one of them.

This intense story of revenge and redemption from bestselling author and master of suspense Lynette Eason will have you up all night as you race toward the explosive finish. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

This book was unputdownable. I was really invested in trying to figure out what was going on and who was behind all of the madness that ensues. I really enjoyed the perspective of Julianna as a negotiator. I loved all of the secondary characters and enjoyed the extra added twist at the end. Eason did a great job writing the hostage situations. I have never considered the life of those that deal with these things on regular basis so this book made me think. Eason’s writing has gotten more creative and in depth and I just enjoy what she writes. If you enjoy suspense I recommend picking up one of her books.

Five Stars.

My Thoughts

This book ended up being completely different from what I was expecting and that is a good thing! This book had a lot more creepy serial killer vibes than I was expecting. I wouldn't read this alone at night. I loved the characters and it is constant suspense throughout the whole book. There is a romance side story that was also a lot different than the norm and it was fun and more realistic than most. The ending has a few twists and turns and I am now eager to read book two!

If you enjoy suspense I think you would enjoy this book. Lynette Eason has written some great books but I think they just keep getting better!

Four stars.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed this book because it helped me think about what people in the military might experience when they are discharged. I know this book is fiction but it still gives me an idea into a life I would otherwise know nothing about. I liked Sarah's character a lot and the suspense element held my attention until the end. I thought the concept that interesting and unique and also a bit scary to think about how realistic it might be. I don't want any spoilers so you will just have to read it to find out! This is the second in the series and while the first book is my favorite I enjoyed this one as well.

Collateral Damage Review

 46125030

 About the Book

Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others--but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way--terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.

Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there--but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.

When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack--and that her secrets go even deeper than his own--Asher vows to protect her no matter what.

Bestselling author Lynette Eason is back with a new series that spans the globe and will have your heart working overtime. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts

This book started out with a bang and kept me up late flipping the pages to find out what happened next. I really liked this book and I am excited about the next one! Typically military type books aren't my go to but every once in a while an author pulls me into this setting. I loved the characters, they were well written and I hope we get to read more of them. I like how the book kept you guessing without being over the top and unrealistic. I appreciated how PTSD is explained a bit and even the little things that are brought up that I wouldn't have thought to be a trigger. This is labeled as romantic suspense and while there is a tad of romance it doesn't take over the story. There are too many other things going on for much romance to happen-which I appreciate. This is such a great story and if you enjoy suspense I recommended it!

Five Stars.

My Review

I have not read the first book in this series but this one was great and I felt like I hadn't missed anything. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, yes, it made for another late reading night. I was so ready for an exciting book and this one held my attention and was full of suspense. I wasn't sure what was going to happen next! I love Dani's character and I was surprised at how quickly the storyline took off. She has been abused by her husband long enough, but right when she gets the courage to leave, he dies. Who is her husband really and why does her brother in law not leave her alone?! Dani's son is a great addition for the story and Adam's job was fun to read. Taking people into protection would be an intense job when running from crazies. The only part is I feel like they would have done more things to be secure while in hiding.
In any case this is such a great book and if you enjoy suspense this a book for you!

Five stars!
