Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 14, 1954 and were newly devised as the town did not have any historical arms.

The arms show a falcon on a mountain and are thus canting for the 11^th century castle Falkenberg in the town. The colours are taken from the arms of the State of Augsburg, to which the town belonged before 1803.
