Nancy Dooley Chocolate Cake

- 1 packaged devil's food cake mix (1 packaged French vanilla cake mix) shopping list
- 4 ounce box of instant chocolate pudding ( 4 ounce box of vanilla pudding) shopping list
- 3/4 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (I use canola) shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 4 large eggs shopping list
- 3 tablespoons Amaretto di sarona (3 tablespoons coconut rum) shopping list
- 1 teaspoon almond extract ( 1 teaspoon vanilla extract) shopping list
- 1 cup melted chocolate chips (1 cup melted white chocolate chips) shopping list
- GLAZE: shopping list
- 1 cup confectioners sugar shopping list
- 3 tablespoons milk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon almond extract (vanilla extract) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease tube pan or bundt pan (oops! a choice to make)
- Dust with cake mix.
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- Beat on medium speed of electric mixer until combined.
- Raise mixer speed to medium-high and beat for 2 minutes.
- Pour into preferred pan.
- Bake in tube pan for 55 to 60 minutes.
- If using the bundt pan, bake for 50 to 55 minutes.
- Remove from oven
- Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
- Dust with confectioners' sugar OR
- make glaze by mixing the sugar, milk and extract to desired consistency.
- Great with whipped cream.
