Tamale Pie

- 2 1/2 pounds lean ground chuck shopping list
- 1 sweet onion, chopped up fine shopping list
- 1 green pepper, chopped shopping list
- 2 (14 1/2 oz) cans diced tomatoes shopping list
- 3 tsp chili powder shopping list
- 2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 (7 oz) packages corn bread mix (I use the Betty Crocker brand) shopping list
- 1 (15 1/4 oz) can corn (drained) shopping list
- 2/3 cup milk shopping list
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
- your favorite salsa shopping list
How to make it
- Brown ground chuck with onion & green pepper, drain well.
- Add tomatoes, chili powder & salt.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Pour into a 4 quart casserole dish.
- In a seperate bowl, stir together the corn bread mix, corn and milk just until moist.
- Spoon over the meat mixture then smooth out and then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Don't use finely shredded cheese.
- You can use up to 3 cups of cheese for topping if you like more cheese.
- Some like using their favorite salsa on this also.
